Strangely enough, because it looks like it could be one of the last great games released for the regular NDS. The game's been out in Japân for a couple of months now, and has received reasonable critical acclaim (33/40 in Famitsu). It's been confirmed for a July 2011 Euro release (no US release though) last week. What got me interested, are the high profile developers/designers attached to this title; most notably CyberConnect2 itself (responsible for the .hack// series and more recently Asura's Wrath) and Madhouse (Animatrix, Death Note etc.). The game itself is an action-JRPG and is the pseudo-sequel to the rather unknown PSX title Tail Concerto (1999). Trailer: More info, images, and video can be found on the official Japanese site. Rudderless Posted April 16, 2011 Share Posted April 16, 2011 It's a lovely-looking thing. I actually really enjoyed the last Naruto game from CyberConnect 2, and this looks very interesting. According to Namco Bandai, there was a record at hand for broadcasting 100 different commercials for the same product in 8 hours. Which is just what they did for the release of this game in Japan. Nice of NoE to give a bit of support to various third-party efforts on the DS, Inazuma, a lot of Capcom DS titles and now this one. The UK division of NoE is lagging behind their other divisions on the Inazuma front, but you've already completed it by now I'd imagine IS are pretty much Nintendo's inhouse strategy game provider and their last one got released 9 months ago in Japan, but hasn't even been announced for localisation yet: FE: Shin Monshou no Nazo Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu (New Mystery of the Emblem, Heroes of Light and Shadow). I mean, these games probably sell fuck all in Europe - thinking about Okami, Inazuma Eleven and Solatorobo. Should I get my hopes up for Ni No Kune DS as well? It'd be a massive shame, even if the game's a fairly standard RPG outside the gorgeous Ghibli trappings. And the PS3 version looks stunning. Sony passed on White Knight Chronicles 2 but Namco are localising that instead, Level-5 could have done it I would have thought if Sony weren't interested. NoE have shown a remarkable level of care for localising/distributing Japanese games with uncertain commercial appeal in Europe, unlike their American cousins, quite a turnaround from last gen, when it was the exact opposite situation. SCEE are releasing White Knight Chronicles 2 in Europe and because of that we get it this month whilst the US get it a few months later. Can't wait to see some reviews, although from what I've read so far it's a bit on the short (but sweet) and easy side. Looks really pretty though. An Edge 7 (or 6) methinks. Reviews are generally positive, so I went with it. It's a shame you can hardly find it anywhere. I paid £30 for mine. Been quite some time since I paid full price for a game, but it seems Solatorobo will be one of those rare last releases. It's already close to £50 on amazon.co.uk. So far the game is a great little game, only about three hours in, but the combat is very interesting, yet simple, simple grab and throws but feels meaty, the graphics are lovely too.
