After all my cynicism surrounding paying full price for such an old game, I must admit I felt a bit emotional at the title screen. So many memories came flooding back. Great conversion, too.

I just lost an hour to what was supposed to be a quick 10 minute go. :D

Link's Awakening question/spoiler!

I just finished Catfish's Maw and finished the trade sequence to get the magnifying glass and found the guy with the boomerang. He lets me trade an item for the boomerang, but I was only able to trade the shovel or the feather. Is there a more useless item to trade? Should I even bother getting the boomerang? Is the shovel useless now that I have all the seashells anyway? I definitely don't have all the pieces of heart...

Swap the shovel if you've got the upgraded sword.

Just played a little on it. Very impressive - they've managed to make it look how I imagined it used to look, if that makes any sense.

That said, its amazing to see the odd high quality texture and think - "Oh, that's what that was supposed to be" - I always thought the wall vines in the Deku Tree were some kind of membrane/something the spiders created.

I've been playing this the last hour or so. I like it a lot, it's like OOT was 15 years ago but now the updated graphics just takes away the feeling of playing an old game. The motion controls to fire the slingshot work well imo and the 3D looks nice. When i got the first heart container the image split horribly though into two very clear seperate images but it looks and plays lovely in 2D anyway.

Just got off the phone from Gamestation customer care... they've done a mighty fine job of f'ing me in the A!

Me "Hi I notice you haven't taken payment for or dispatched my order for Zelda on 3ds..."

GS "We are having problems with our Zelda preorders at the minute we hope to have it resolved as soon as possible"

Me "Do you know roughly when they'll go out?"

GS "We'll take payment 3 days before we send it"

Me "Won't be before monday then... What about if I get the XP refunded so I can buy it in store tomorrow?"

GS "We can refund it but it will take 10 days..."

Looks like I won't be getting the girl or playing like one till at least Tuesday! Should have gone to Specsa... I mean Shopto :(

I ordered from Amazon about a month ago but i'm not too fussed about getting it on release day so have left it on the Super Saver Delivery option. As long as I can get this magnificent tribute to a magnificent game, then waiting a few days doesn't matter. ^_^

Oh well that's not as bad I suppose... Still should have gone to Shopto though

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Are Gameplay affiliated with Gamestation because it appears my order there hasn't shipped either? They've never let me down in the past which is wht I went with them.

Just had a quick go - it's utterly beautiful. It's very exciting to finally play such a well-loved game after all this time.

I might play it in 2D though; there's no ghosting, and it looks like there's some anti-aliasing going on too, which is nice.

I'm at 50% 3D and I've had no problems.

I've never been Ocarina's biggest fan - in fact it was a slight disappointment to me after Zelda Link to the past. That game was so dense - Ocarina felt suprisingly empty to me at the time.

So replaying this now - I'm rather shocked how dense it feels compared to the AAA titles of today. It makes the on rails cinematic action of modern titles look like the fucking sad joke they really are.
