Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D

OOT didn't have a camera anyway - so no biggie. I've never used the camera in any Zelda games (Windwaker, TP). Just a quick squeeze of the lock-on button to centre the camera behind link is all that's needed for Zelda games.

I've argued at great length on here that the camera in OoT is the best ever designed, and that having most of the camera positions dictated by the game frees you up from tinkering with the view, rendering it more immersive.

Then again, I used to love sweeping the camera round to look at the boat when sailing in WW. I'm full of shit.

Even a well behaving camera is worse than a free camera. I recall moments of frustration playing OOT on the Nintendo 64 (mainly when orienting myself or looking for items in a room) - although it was in the right spot most of the time.

Moving the camera is always better, it gives you a far better idea where you are compared to your surroundings. Often I find fixed cameras disorienting. My favourite cameratype is the one you can move freely, but which will start out (or slowly move to) a default position which is the most effective for that certain scene/location.

Exactly. It's the best of both worlds. Even a well implemented camera can put you in a spot where you can't see what you want. So move it and it locks back later.

I think you can, I recall seeing a Youtube preview showing first person view both using the gyroscope and the pad.

You can yeah, so it's all good.

So this is utterly amazing. The only thing stopping me from going on mental long sessions is the shitty 3DS battery life. What is lovely though is putting it on sleep mode half way through a dungeon only to crack it open again later in the day and start off exactly where you left off.

Also, i just spent 2 hours fishing. TWO HOURS. I remember being addicted to that when i was a kid too, so it's no surprise really.

couple of things that you might not know (not spoilers just new things but i'll spoil tag it none the less)

The easter eggs from the original are still there but most have been replaced with new little treats. Like for example, looking through the window when you're in Zelda's garden... You don't see the portraits any more but a room, with cloud wallpaper and some shelves with pots on them that make it look like a mario bros stage.

Also there's this fucking awesome new stone near your house that you whack and it give you a vision of the future which is basically a sort of 'tip' system. It looks fantastic and gives away tips if you're stuck but doesn't spell it out for you.

I can't believe I'm writing this, as I adore OOT and my 3DS but I don't think I'm going to get it. It bothers me that I would be paying £30 for something I can play on my N64, today for free.

If you love the game, this is well worth getting, if not for the graphical face lift, then for a fully playable portable version of a game that you love.

I know what you are saying and I would love it but I have spent so much money on games this year that I have to draw the line somewhere. :-(

I'd draw the line on another lesser game that you might have been buying, not this one :)

One minor gripe though... Navi is still a fuck.

Even worse now as it keeps reminding you to "take a break as you've been playing for a while"

I'll take a break when Ganon is defeated and not a minute before you lazy, overly cautious, unmotivated fairy cunt.

I can't. It's a collection. Each one a memory.

What percentage of your collection are games that you would play again?

There's someone in the trading thread that wants Planet Ring for the Dreamcast. It's online only and the servers have been down for years. What's the point?

Yes, the camera in OoT was perfect. I don't think I ever had an issue with it.

With Wind Waker though, I did the very same thing during sailing, arcing around, slowly zooming in to give Link his hero shot. On foot though, I used the C-stick with the analogue held forward to turn Link in smooth arcs, rather than using his movement controls. I think I prefered it that way.
