Jon Murphy has just tweeted the following

That's good news. But I'm kinda worried because it's a really important feature and to have it bugged just weeks before going gold does not ring as ideal. But I'm optimistic.

The game in that video looks like it's on fast forward!

That's what I thought. Maybe they are playing on +2? In the preview version of July it was much slower.

Another tweet from Jon Murphy:

Had some really good news. The pass and run bug seen in GC code was fixed in time for the demo this week

Demo out on Wednesday.

PES 2012: Two Demos Announced

KONAMI offers early taste of PES 2012 for fans

Konami DigitalEntertainment GmbH has announced it will release TWO playable demos for its eagerly awaited PES 2012 title. The demos will be available free for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC, and will give PES fans a chance to experience the game early in its development cycle and prior to release.

The first demo will be released on August 24th and will be based on a preview build of the game. While there will be areas that are refined, KONAMI wants PES users to try out the game’s many new Teammate Control elements prior to launch and experience the realism that Active AI brings to PES 2012, and which have been singled out for extensive praise by the media. The demo will also showcase the individuality of the many teams in the game, and users will be able to pick from six teams and their playing styles – Manchester United, AC Milan, FC Porto, S.S.C Napoli, Santos FC, and C.A. Panarol – and pit them against each other in 10-minute matches. The demo will also showcase key Challenge Training elements, where fans can practice the new control systems to fully enjoy the game.

The first PES 2012 demo will not be truly representative of the final game, so KONAMI will issue a second free demo reflecting the final version’s feel and gameplay in mid-September for the same formats. This will also offer 10-minute matches, but with a different team roster of Tottenham Hotspur, FC Bayern Munich, FC Internazionale Milano, Rangers FC, Club America and Sport Club Internacional.

“We have spoken a lot about the new additions to PES 2012, and now we want users to see it for themselves,” explained Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader. “By releasing a demo for preview purposes, we want people to get in early to try out the Teammate Control elements and to see for themselves how the Active AI works. This will then be followed by a second demo that offers different teams, and a closer approximation of what the final game will play like. We truly value the support and input of our user base – and these demos are so they can see how their help has aided the most ambitious PES to date.”

We I just played this on the PC using my keyboard so I'm not going to go into much comment before playing it with a controller later on, but, it plays brilliantly.

The passing is so much more accurate than before and has a lovely weighting to it. Shooting seems better also, more accurate and not reliant on pace, feels easier more to elegantly place a shot in the corner of goal than before.

Player runs look phenomenal, it really makes the game feel alive and makes attacking so much more exciting than before. I didn't notice every playing running forward whatsoever either.

Oh, and I didn't notice anything wrong with the pace/speed of the game.

Picked up the Winning Eleven demo from the Japanese store this morning and managed 1 game before work.

All I can say is wow, what an improvement. The player responsiveness and the AI is much better and the general pace and flow of the game seems to be quite realistically portrayed. Dribbling and beating a man is much easier and smoother and I also thought the defending felt a lot more satisfying (Although maybe a little difficult). There appear to still be a few niggles (GK's mainly) but it's very very enjoyable and I can't wait to have a few more games a little later on.

The passing, the movement, the tactical play...It has it all. It is a joy to play and it plays a mean game of Football. Animations are a bit clunky, but that is a minor niggle. When you score you feel like you have earned your goal.

The King Is (based on the demo) Back

From what little I've played so far, I like it. For the past few years I've swerved footie games as both this and FIFA haven't been very good. I think I'll be getting this though.

I hope they alter the ball physics as the flight of the ball (and velocity) seem a bit off.

I agree with all of that Brad and it runs so nicely on my laptop I may well get it for that as it will be cheaper I expect.

Yeah, so far the demo ran ok on mine too. Tempted to get it on PC instead.

It's pretty good.

One thing I noticed though, and maybe I'm alone in this, but PES always feels weird with the Xbox 360 controller. I downloaded the demo on both PC and PS3 and the PC version felt really woolly compared to the PS3 one. It's odd as for nearly every other game the 360 pad is usually better, but I just struggle using it for PES. Weird.

One negative thing though. The "Game Plan" options look like they haven't been altered that much, more specifically the screen layout. It's a bit annoying swapping players around as you have to scroll down to see all the reserves/subs. It's not a big problem, but it's one I'd hoped they'd address as there's plenty of room for them to try something that includes seeing all the squad listing at once.

Must admit that I am not too keen after a few goes either, although I can't really put my finger on why just yet.

I mean, in one area it feels great and that's the movement and little touches. Scored a tremendous goal as Potato Head when Nani slid him through and he took a little touch to take it off the defender's toe before flicking it with the outside of the boot around the diving keeper. Looked great.

The rest of it just felt a bit... loose, I guess. Defending still felt like just pressuring the striker with as many players as possible at once, and when I was attacking I couldn't find much space as every other team seemed to park the bus and none of my players seemed to want to make clever runs. Most of my attempts on goal were pinged passing moves around half a dozen of their players before finally getting a bit of space.

Still, a lot of this could be due to my FIFA leanings. I definitely get the feeling that I want to like Pro Evolution 12 so will give it more time.

Apparently keepers have had a lot of work since this version of the code. Also, the assisted passing has had a tweak also.

Also, worth noting that the graphics have been heavily compressed for the demo.

Gutted this has been delayed for 360, I can't face playing it on a PC since I don't have a decent pad.
