So i was there yesterday, unlike the team. Another shambolic disaster.

Sears can go as well, just not strong enough, and apparently didn't cut it during his loan spell at Palace.

Lets get Holloway in with Charlie Adams for Parker.

Also had some day tripper clown sat in front of me who spent most of the game pointing at the directors box screaming "Rapists, you've raped my club". I sit in the Bobby Upper, about 80 yrds from the Directors Area.

To be fair he was a just confused! the owners have been financially raped by the team now!

I think he is just saying what the fans want to hear. I think you can expect 90 mins of hoofball even at home. All Big Sam and his back room guys do is tough percentage football with the emphasis on scoring from set-pieces and not conceding many.

He will get West Ham promoted and consolidate you in the mid-table of the premier league. The way he will do it will not be pretty though. That is not his style.

The argument West Ham fans will have with each other is the same as Bolton and Blackburn fans had. Success vs Entertainment. Expect the former and none of the latter [plus expect signing Diouf].

Perhaps but it says something for a man who hasn't managed a club outside of the top flight in the last 10 years.

Alvin Martin on Talksport had this to say (of Sam's appointment and on Scott Parker):

http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/7959/8/exclusive-martin-allardyce-can-keep-scott-parker-west-ham

Alvin Martin has claimed that if anyone can keep Scott Parker at West Ham then Sam Allardyce can.

Hammers captain Parker has been linked with a move away from Upton Park following relegation from the Premier League.

And Martin has told talkSPORT that although Parker has every right to walk away from West Ham that it would be a massive achievement for Allardyce to keep him at the club.

Speaking to Drive Time he said: There will be one or two that go. I hope that Scott Parker doesnt go.

[sam Allardyce] is pretty persuasive. Hes been able to entice some big names during his Bolton days and at this moment in time Scott Parker will have been thinking what are my options and where am I going to go?

But big Sam might just put another slant on that. He might just put a question mark in Scotts mind and there might be a possibility he stays.

If youre asking me honestly if hell stay then I think hes done enough to be able to walk away from West Ham with his head held high. It would be an unbelievable coup if big Sam can actually keep him.

West Ham legend Martin, who made 469 appearances for the club, added that he was delighted with appointment despite some fans reservations.

I think [the appointment] is pretty positive. I know that some West Ham fans have been a little bit uncertain about the appointment prior to it happening.

But he is the right sort of man I would have expected [to be appointed] as he has got the right credentials to take them back up. The priority is getting them back up.

When I look at what went wrong this year I think Avram Grant was a lovely feller, he had a great rapport with the players, Ive got no doubt about that but did he demand enough from the players. That was always my question, did he demand, did he push, did he bully them into performances sometimes and if they did fall short was he going to let them know. I dont think he did that and big Sam will.

"He has got a track record for getting the best out of players. Theyll be organised, theyll be disciplined, theyll be hard to beat and hell have better players in that division than most of the other teams.

I think he will get them up Ive got no problem with that whatsoever and I think its a really positive appointment.

I think my post reads as more negative than I meant it. I like the guy and what he did for Rovers.

He will get you up and he will place a huge emphasis on beating Millwall too. He made sure our players knew what beating Burnley meant to us when he was here. He will win over loads of your fans with the results he will get.

He split our fans down the middle though is what I am getting at. Some will be aghast at the style of football he plays. Some will hate the guy for the amount of rubbish he spouts in the press. Others will be won over by the results. He is a very polarizing figure to have in charge of your team.

I think a majority of the fans will hold the opinion of him as they did with Bellamy, in that he's a cunt, but now he's our cunt. The only people that will really hold umbrage to him are the people that expect champagne football when in truth, we haven't played like that for a long, long time. I think we'll move the ball quickly and his style of play might even get us that creative midfielder that we've been crying out for since Benayoun's first season.

I'm actually looking forward to supporting a team that's able to defend for a change and doesn't capitulate after half time every week.

I'm quite pleased with the appointment. He will certainly have more presence and energy in the dressing room, training ground, well everywhere (!) basically than dopey Grant and will hopefully make a big difference to the defence in making us hard to beat.

I like the way the website says he starts 'work' immediately when he is sunning himself on a beach in Spain!

Good luck to Sam and let's get behind him to sort out the mess.

Meanwhile, in other news:

Bah, Fernandes is a self-promoting egotistical cock, who loves tweets more than Sylvester the cat. If he had half as much clout as he likes to present, then he'd have gone in to the takeover with a bid that would have buried the practical but dour, Dildo Bros one. C'mon Tone, but your (someone else's) money where your twitter feed is, and inject some capital into the club so we can have a few mill more to get some players in :quote:

Very happy to see how the squad is shaping up. I'm not fussed about the age of Faye as he'll provide invaluable experience and guiding qualities to Tomka, which is something his previous centre half partner and club captain never did. The Nolan transfer speaks for itself and Gardner will do a more than adequate job.

To reiterate myself from posts father up, it's nice to be able to support a team that will know how to defend and will have a bit of steel.

Going to be very interesting seeing the other additions and what a strange feeling it is going into a season without trepidation and being optimistic for a change!

Yeah fair point top-cat. Perhaps Faye and Tomkins could be a solid partnership.

I see Barrera is playing very well for Mexico in the Copa America. Surely he must stand a chance of being in the first eleven and blitzing defenders in the championship?

I have to be honest, i watch a lot of football and i have to admit i have never heard of Faye, so the jury's out for me. Anyone rate him ?

Nolan would be a great signing, but Gardner always seems to be a sub, but tends to score against us a lot, so i'll take it. Would be nice to hang on to Cole with him. Demba would have been better, but he's not sticking around.

Even if Faye doesn't start many games with Tomka, the very least he'll do is provide that nurturing, grizzled old war horse experience that has been absent from him for at least two seasons. I mean, can you imagine the sort of defender he'd be now if he'd have had Neil still giving him encouragement and guidance? He's had nothing from two managers and Upson and I think BFS and to a lesser point, Faye could be the unearthing of the defender most believe him to be.

I really, really rate Barrera and it's criminal the way he's been dumped and treated by our previous 'manager'. If he stays (and I hope he does) I think he's exactly the sort of player that BFS likes: quick, mobile and will happily take full backs on and get crosses into the box for a big centre half to knock down for oncoming players like Nolan; remember him against Bolton at the Boleyn last season? Ripped them apart and the game that turned our season around when Cole missed and we lost a game we'd totally dominated.. I think Allerdyce will get the best out of him and a season in the Championship will do wonders for his confidence.

And not sure how many goals Gardner will score Lunar Jetman, seeing as the one we're after is a left back ;)

Here is the latest news from Upton Park:

Firstly, we have completed the signing of Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, absolutely tremendous coup. Captain and ready replacement for Scott Parker for me. There is no doubt we would never have signed him if Big Sam was not manager, he certainly seems to leave an impression on former players and that can only be a good thing if he can attract a player of this calibre. Box to box midfielder with goals galore in his locker:

Finally, confirmation of the players released who are now free agents as stated on the premier league list released today:

Anthony Edgar, Holmar Eyjolfsson, Dannny Gabbidon, Lars Jacobsen, Filip Modelski, Jonathan Spector, Adam Street and Matthew Upson - last name listed...top-cat rejoice!

Fair play to him really. He came in to score goals, did so and wants to make as much lucre as possible before his knee explodes, which is now Newcastle's problem and they tend to have as much of a hoodoo with injured players as we do. So I'm expecting an innocuous tackle against Arsenal first game and he'll lose a leg or something.

I'm more miffed that Brighton away isn't till the arse end of October. I was hoping for a nice balmy September evening there :(

Lol. Been having a bit of man flu this week. Obviously not concentrating. I kept reading (and typing) Gardner and thinking Fuller for some reason.

20+ yrs with a season ticket and thick as fuck.

In other news Cardiff on the opening day. Get the six pointers in early !

Good time to play Cardiff I think. BFS will be keen to start strongly and if his comments about playing passing football at home and grinding out results away is true, then it could set the mood for the whole season. Beat Cardiff playing good football and he'll get a really positive atmosphere going; mind you, we could have Gary Glitter managing us and he'd get a positive reception too after the Grant debacle - plus he'd really promote Kids for a Quid.

Anyone bothered about Gabbidon and Jacobsen leaving? Faye is a great signing but we are already short on defensive cover.

Also Spector was a shit defender but would have been alright backup in midfield in the championship surely? I can only guess some of these guys were on silly wages.

NOLAN = AWESOME SIGNING.

Green is a shit striker too. It's what happens when someone is played out of their position. Specs was his own worst enemy; being a consummate professional, he never moaned once when he was played at either full back position (moreso on the left, an area we traditionally neglect) and just got on with it, which while commendable, meant we effectively had a midfielder by trade playing in a position alien too him. All the mugging offs he got were more than a bit harsh. I also believe wages aren't the sticking point of him signing, but wanting too speak to BFS to see what his game time will be like and you can't begrudge a player not wanting to get splinters in the arse during their playing prime.

Very glad that Spence seems to have resigned too, bar crossing the I's and T's (which always leaves me nervous thanks to Yossi).

And pics of the new kit for those that haven't seen, thanks to a massive cock up by the club shop that had them available to see via the website search engine even though they're not due to be officially unveiled until Wednesday
