Nintendo E3 Conference - Summary Page #1

The Sarge

The first year they revealed Wii (Revolution) didn't they just show the console? Iwata just came out on stage holding it (the console, not his phallus). No games were shown. Don't think the controller was shown either.

Therefore I fully expect the same here. Skyward Sword on Wii. Mario 3DS. Bla Bla Bla. Look at our console that resembles a SNES! Out in 2013!

Not expecting much from Project Cafe in terms of games shown. Don't even want any at this E3 if I have to wait two Christmases to get my hands on them. It's all about the controller.

And then there's 3DS, which has no other option but to deliver a tsunami* of wow or die, and at least two helpings of Zelda (Skyward Sword and Anniversary Thingy). After no attempt at a megaton from the other two, it's gonna be on like Donkey Kong for Nintendo at this E3.

*too soon?

Remember the year before DS and Twlight Princess and Reggie and everyone was expecting some "hardcore" franchises from Nintendo to bring Gamecube back to life and they showcased Pac Man Vs on the Cube to GBA link.....hilariously bad times! Don't think Nintendo have had a bad one since to be honest.

I've decided I want Nintendo to hold Skyward Sword over for Cafe. If they do release it on Wii its going to be years before we see a proper HD Zelda that takes advantage of all the extra power. Do it, I can wait.

Screenshots for Skyward Sword have been higher res than the Wii can display...

Nintendo have already said that their new console will be fully playable at E3 this year so its not going to be like the Wii reveal at all. The system and controller will be shown off as well as games in development.

Is that not normal for promo screenshots though? I hope it doesn't get bumped to Cafe, will give them time to work on some new gameplay mechanics for the next game ;)

No, usually holding back a title and tarting it up a bit for the next generation will just result in a mess which doesn't utilise the strengths of the new platform while often still suffering from the weaknesses of the old platform. Better to finish and release it as intended for the console it was designed for and start from scratch on the next iteration.

I do wonder what they'll be showing regarding Project Cafe though, if it's really a year and a half away the titles in development must be very early indeed. Or will they wow us with a megaton releasedate of December 2011?

What I think is amazing is that there have been no leaks whatsoever. No one know what to expect really, quite exciting isnt it?

The impending news feltch has kind of tarnished the other conferences for me as nothing really compares to an E3 hardware announcement. Or so I'm hoping...

I must admit I'm more interested in Nintendo's conference than I was for either of the other two, despite the Wii being my biggest hardware purchase disappointment ever (and I've owned a CD32 and an Atari Lynx, folks). Imagine if the Cafe thing was as good as the SNES. That would be utterly amazing! I'll wait until after launch to buy one though, just to make sure it's not all shovelware shite.

I dont know, Sony had a great showing with Vita. Nintendo better have some big announcements to reveal for the 3DS.

I thought Sony's was the worst of the lot. Just so boring and safe. The only thing we learnt was the price point. Nothing stood out. Bash Kinect all you want but at least MS' was fun to watch and genuinely got me curious to try out some of that tat.

I fucking love the Lynx.

Really? There have been a fair few leaks, from proposed specs to the fact that the controller has a six inch screen. Now these main turn out to be false but if not then most of the key parts of the console have already leaked out.
