Nintendo E3 Conference - Summary Page #1

F-Zero HD shown on the new console would make this whole E3 for me. Which means it won't happen. :(

Same. Presuming they didn't reduce the complexity of the game with control gimmicks, it would make the console pretty hard to resist, and this is speaking as someone who's never owned a Wii.

So yeah, they'll probably end up putting it on 3DS instead, with compulsory tilt controls.

Really? There have been a fair few leaks, from proposed specs to the fact that the controller has a six inch screen. Now these main turn out to be false but if not then most of the key parts of the console have already leaked out.

Um, I was joking. I have no idea what the conference will be like, but I'm fairly confident it'll be something other than just a massive Mario repeating a two second catchphrase.

Cmon, the Wii is a bit naff - but worse than the CD32 - no way!

Depends on what you mean by 'worse'. I had much more fun with my CD32 than I have with my Wii. I lent my Wii to my sister two years ago and keep forgetting to ask for it back. Because there's nothing I want to play on it. I'd still like to play Liberation: Captive II on a CD32 if you gave me the chance. Personal preference and all that. I bought it all full of hope and confidence at launch and then... nothing came out that I was interested in except for Mario Galaxy.

The point I was trying to make really was that I'll wait until at least the second wave of games comes out for Cafe before deciding to buy it, no matter how exciting it looks at E3 or at launch.

I thought Sony's was the worst of the lot. Just so boring and safe. The only thing we learnt was the price point. Nothing stood out. Bash Kinect all you want but at least MS' was fun to watch and genuinely got me curious to try out some of that tat.

I agree with this. They showed a lot of Kinect stuff, but then what did you expect? That's what they're pushing at the moment. I could have done without the kids sections, but in general, I thought the conference was fine.

Leaving work early to catch this conference. I need to get a life methinks. :)

No you don't. That's the last thing you want. A life means you can't watch things you want to! You're best off where you are. Sure, friends and a family bring their own joy, but you don't get to watch Nintendo's conferences live. It's a hell of a trade-off.

Whoops, quoted the wrong person! Was meant to quote the person who was praising the fact that Nintendo have kept everything under wraps so well!

I think the problem with the MS conference is that it was a briefing of extremes. On the one hand you've got Cliff and Ice blowing a gigantic monster's eye into Day-Glo goo, and on the other hand two kids fist-bumping to Disney theme parks and a fake dad and kid playing Sesame Street. All the other Kinect stuff was just optional bits and bobs tacked onto traditional games - in most cases looking like a gimmick you'd use once just to see how it worked but never again. Opening and closing your hand to fire? Eek.

Personally, I don't think it was Worst Conference Ever material, but I can see why many were disappointed.

(Disclosure: I did actually quite like the look of both the Disney thing and Sesame Street, but then I do have a 5-year-old kid who I think would enjoy playing that stuff with me.)

I'm off video so will be online here for lolupdates.

Surely the first 30 minutes will just be reggie saying how Nintendo print money.

Dunno - Wii sales in sharp decline and 3DS not selling to expectations,

I do expect Reggie to come on with a bit of swagger though Microsoft and, to a lesser extent, Sony have spent good budget trying to capture the Market that the Wii had... It's time to move on and leap frog them...
