Dunno - Wii sales in sharp decline and 3DS not selling to expectations,

I do expect Reggie to come on with a bit of swagger though Microsoft and, to a lesser extent, Sony have spent good budget trying to capture the Market that the Wii had... It's time to move on and leap frog them...

Are Wii sales in Sharp decline though? Last year it outsold the 360 and ps3 comfortably. And now it's had a price drop that will drive sales. I think you should shut your mouth, scott, before I shut it for you.

Does anybody have any other links to a liveblog, ideally on a site that isn't dedicated to gaming (work filter ftl). The Arstechnica one loads but it appears the filter has blocked the actual blog portion of the page!

The wii selling more than the 360 and PS3 doesn't detract from it being in sharp decline. I think the sharp decline is only comparable to itself.

Last year yep it outsold yep.. but the phrase was "sharp decline" so exhibit A graph shown above...

Exhibit B

Sales for 2011 up to now

PS3 - 4,292,542

360 - 3,626,997

Wii - 3,555,529

Sales for 2010 up to same point

Wii 5,883,441

PS3 4,676,036

360 3,110,796

So this year so far is MUCH worse than last year (over 2 million less sold)

2010 the wii sold less than 2009.

So whichever way you want to cut it sales are in sharp decline.

Not surprising as it sold a shitload over last 5 yrs or so. And it will sell a fair few more.. But when sales decline like this then best thing to do is move onto next console release. Which is precisely what Nintendo are doing.

Nintendo usually only release a new console when sales of the latest incumbent are flattening out or declining.
