Alright, look, for those still confused or not getting what Nintendo have done here's a simple explanation.

With me skipping from Stream to Rllmuk, I never saw the subtle differences between that really small image and the usual Wii. So yeah, acceptable confusion for anyone didn't have a full screen HD stream.

It makes a PSP look like a masterclass in ergonomic design.

To be fair the N64 and Gamecube pad looked weird as hell but felt pretty sex in the hands. I think it'll be pretty comfortable to use.

So o take it that it's compatible with all Wii peripherals ie remote & nunchuk, balance board etc.

My immediate reaction is that I can this stuff on my PS3 and PSP. it's nothing new.

Bur the biggest is question us why we're waiting 18 months.

Nintendo didn't show a single Wii U game. If you want to be stupidly reductive like that, practically every game involves pointing at things. In particular I was impressed by the idea of looking at the TV screen through the Wii U controller screen with augmented stuff on the actual graphics on the game. Have you ever seen that before in a game?

Augmented reality is cool. Augmenting stuff over a TV screen that can already display whatever the fuck it likes seems a bit daft.

Silent Scope did it pretty well in the arcade.

Yeah, and I remember it was actually a really cool game that was basically impossible to recreate at home (those home versions where you scroll a window around a screen was shit). So I guess you agree that the Wii U controller has a legitimate gameplay use then?

I don't know what's up with everyone around here but I thought the NEW CONSOLE seems like everything anyone could ever want. If you only get one console, get this one, it's all of them. With it's backward compatibality, presumably you will still be able to use a gamecube controller? Hopefully you'll be able to transfer all your VC stuff aswell...

Spacehost, it might just be me, but I've picked up a slight anti-Nintendo vibe from you recently, that's cool an' all, but seriously, you need to get off the fence and say what you really think.

This is what I got from the Conference:

Wii Remote

Wii Remote Plus

Touch Screen Controller

WiiFit Board

All Compatible with Wii & WiiU

Different configurations for different games and preferences. So Nintendo will probably continue to release more simplistic family friendly games on the Wii, allowing the users to add the Touch Screen controller (What's the name of it?) into the mix. Then eventually they might want to upgrade the base unit console from the Wii to the WiiU for the extra games that use that system.

Cross compatibly and user preference.

The touch screens will probably be expensive, so being able to buy them for the Wii first, before a user upgrades to the WiiU will probably help spread the cost.
