I don't know what's up with everyone around here but I thought the NEW CONSOLE seems like everything anyone could ever want. If you only get one console, get this one, it's all of them. With it's backward compatibality, presumably you will still be able to use a gamecube controller? Hopefully you'll be able to transfer all your VC stuff aswell...

It does Infamous 2 and Gears as well? :coffee:

So I guess you agree that the Wii U controller has a legitimate gameplay use then?

Yeah, gameplay experiences from 1998 from the looks of things. Why the hell did Nintendo show this off without a Zelda or Mario game that used its features in a remotely interesting way?

So o take it that it's compatible with all Wii peripherals ie remote & nunchuk, balance board etc.

My immediate reaction is that I can this stuff on my PS3 and PSP. it's nothing new.

Bur the biggest is question us why we're waiting 18 months.

Could be out in ten. Apparantely the release date between April 1 2012 - December 31 2012.

Ha remotely.

I swear, I get that people feel let down by the Wii, but everyone's just sifting for complaints at this point.

Nintendo just announced a new console that's at least as powerful as the 360 and PS3 (and bit more if the rumours are to believed). It's got a new controller with a lot of fancy new features, but also can be used solely in a "dual-shock" fashion for traditional games if desired. There wasn't much in the way of game announcements, but that's because it's still 18 months away.

What's there to complain about?

I think most people on this forum already have one console.

It's a current-gen device that's going to be released 6-7 years after the current-gen began.

MY BODY IS REGGIE.

Seriously though, he's on GT in a sec so he might shed some light on some issues the confused amongst you are having.

They've got Hulk Hogan on at the moment. I hope Reggie fights him.

How many controllers can you use at once because me and my friends want to see who can draw the prettiest picture of Link.

I hope there's online multiplayer for that.

I hope Hulk does a Hogan smash on him.

This is what I got from the Conference:

Wii Remote

Wii Remote Plus

Touch Screen Controller

WiiFit Board

All Compatible with Wii & WiiU

Different configurations for different games and preferences. So Nintendo will probably continue to release more simplistic family friendly games on the Wii, allowing the users to add the Touch Screen controller (What's the name of it?) into the mix. Then eventually they might want to upgrade the base unit console from the Wii to the WiiU for the extra games that use that system.

Cross compatibly and user preference.

The touch screens will probably be expensive, so being able to buy them for the Wii first, before a user upgrades to the WiiU will probably help spread the cost.

I think you were watching an unrelated conference some neighbours were holding for you through a window in your house.

The Wii U is a new console. The controller has a screen in it. The old Wii controller and balance board can also work with it.

Current gen doesn't start until Nintendo says so.

Spacehost, it might just be me, but I've picked up a slight anti-Nintendo vibe from you recently, that's cool an' all, but seriously, you need to get off the fence and say what you really think.

:winky:

Heh. What can I say? The new machine just isn't doing it for me. They've decided that the best way to get core gamers on-board is with ports of games they can get on their existing core console, and they can keep the casual market happy by making them buy their Wii again with a new, more expensive controller.

They showed off the basic mechanics, and you should be able to imagine how they would work in an actual game.

I mean, you might have assumed that Nintendo are going to make new Zelda and Mario games without having to be told that.

No. The WiiU is the console and the Wii is the console and the old Wii Controller is a flower pot and the whole thing is powered by moon dust and Reggie jizz.
