Well as this is getting all of the 360s games a year after they are released I guess the 360 is better than this now. :coffee:

That's because it doesn't exist now. You see the Wii U games won't always be a year behind, it's just that now you can't buy one. When you can buy one the games will come out at the same time. And look better on the Wii U. And have a fancy controller. And Nintendo games.

The Zelda video looked pretty much current-gen, hardly Crysis 2 standards though. The machine is not going to be able to compete, on a technological level, with Sony and Microsoft's machines- Nintendo know it. They'll launch next Christmas, for £179, use it as a step up for Wii owners, and surf six months, maybe a year tops as a comparable console to the 360 and PS3 with ports of the last big 360 and PS3 games.

Don't MS and Sony wanna make some money? They can't keep launching super expensive consoles and then abandoning them before they even break even.

I like the ideas involved with the 3ds and Wii U but they simply aren't for me, good luck to those that will enjoy them, they do look genuinely great fun, I won't be buying this time around ending a run of every console bought since the NES *massive sad face.gif*

Natural terrain and environment deformation for a start. At the moment Red Faction Guerrilla can do it in a limited way, but if you could do something like that with improved accuracy in a city with the density of structures of GTA IV and AI that were smart enough to exploit that deformation in the same way you can (did it never bother anyone that RFG's baddies never though of bringing a roof down on you?), you'd have a very compelling and chaotic Saints Row 4.

Ah, ok. See.. that doesn't excite me at all, but I guess that's why I'm now a dirty casual :(

Hey, you on facebook? We can keep in touch that way. What's your username over there, still Melodramatic Tool? I'll poke you now and again. But for now bon voyage!

Spacehost is right for once, if Nintendo had made this thing much more powerful then absolutely everything you can imagine would be possible. And that's the only thing holding back developers from making these incredible experiences. It's like they're making games with one had tied behind their backs.

To be fair it does mean that developers won't need to bother coming up with any fancy new tech for the Wii U, they know what they can do with that kind of power already. Saves developers cash.

I'm actually hoping they port GTA IV onto it, you could have your controller on your lap and be checking your GPS and doing things on your mobile instead of it popping up on the side of the screen, and you could use it as a keyboard to type things into the computers and stuff. Or you could annotate the map yourself with the stylus.

Okay, fine, I'm starting to come up with stuff that you can do that would be cool with this. Shut up at the back.

But GTA5, if they make it after how expensive 4 was to make and how it sold way less that Mariokart even thought it was out on two platforms, will be on Wii U too, just a little bit better. And you've also got all the AAA Nintendo stuff.

If it wasn't for the RRoD, the 360 would have long broken even by now. They've been making a profit on each one sold for quite a while now, and that's before taking into account live subs.

If this if that.

They'd still billions of dollars in the hole they now think Kinect is the future, Kinect which is a few months old, and you think they're going to announce a new super powerful console next year!! Good luck with that, eh?

I love how folks screaming out for a Wii hd - a system that has the power to do a Zelda game that looks like skyrim- and also includes a new second screen with touchscreen interfaces - are moaning.

Meanwhile - they are spooging over skyrim!?!?

I'll give you a clue, they're actually horrible sony or MS fanboys but unlike me and you they can't admit it.

That's why they're complaining that even thought the Wii U will be the most powerful console ever it's not actually that good becuase MS or Sony might release an even more powerful one at some unspecified time.

According to Spacehost devs will easilly be able to make a detailed city like the one from GTA4, but fully destructible and you'll be able to have conversations with its inhabitants. I mean these sorts of games will be shat out on the PS4. That's why all PS3 games creak along ot 25fps with shitty animation.

Not for 360 they're not, they became profitable on that about three years ago. Whether you want to include the Xbox costs in that- it was kind of a giant advertising campaign for the 360 in a way- is up to you.

Kinect, now that's a success story- costs £40 to make and retails for £99. They've sold 10 million of them. By my odds that's a £590 million profit in a year. It's not even like they spent much on R&D, the tech in it was developed by an Israeli company a few years back. People love the fuckin' thing, they're going to bundle it as standard with the next Xbox. Hell, if they get it our for Christmas 2012, with the new Call of Duty as a launch title, and Kinect in there, they'll take the It Prints Money Crown.

One game it would be cool in is Arkham City.. You could hold the controller up in front of the screen to see in 'detective mode'..

Plus you could use it as the decoder gadget etc..

Still to be convinced otherwise.. the controller looks a like the offspring of one of those V.Smile/Leap-pad educational 'consoles' and a graphics tablet. But Nintendo haven't gone too far wrong this generation and being able to use all your old controllers etc (and I'd assume software) with the new machine won't hurt it's chances..

Still way too far off to call - especially given the minimal info we actually got from the briefing..

Don't be an idiot ramone, as much as you may enjoy it. Someone asked for an example of the places you could go with gaming with more processing power that wasn't just cosmetic, I gave them one. I never said what machine it'd run on- honestly, you're probably going to get all the bleeding-edge stuff on PC years before any console sees it.

PC Master Race baby.

Meanwhile, one of the notable innovations of the Ballmer years, the Microsoft Xbox, goes from strength to strength. Selling the Xbox console was just the start; now Microsoft gets revenues from Xbox Live subscribers paying to play games online and to stream television shows and movies on demand via their broadband internet connection. The entertainment and devices division that includes Xbox is growing revenues at an annual rate of 60 per cent, and is solidly in the black.

The thing about the WiiU controller is that it's got two thumbsticks- what people have been asking for. Sure it's got a 6 inch screen in the middle, but I refuse to see that as a problem.

Those aren't thumbsticks. They're 3DS-style sliders. Maybe they're precise enough mind.

They're not real thumbsticks though. They're those sliding things.
