Will a digital copy automatically pick up a save game from a cartridge version with no problems?

No - the cart save is on the cart. No cart, no save.

BUT!

There's a save transfer tool in the eShop. Phew!

Added this page.

I'm really intrigued to see what the friends and spot pass stuff for this is like, could be genius. Hope it's not beard growingly long codes like in the Cube one and just automatic, or even with letterbox integration or something.

Really funny that the official Nintendo video "Inside the Treehouse #1" has a comments wall just FULL of people berating the company's move to claim ad revenue from YouTube Let's Play'ers. Also made the top comments.

Yay, way to go Nintendo PR.

No, see what you mean, but it was a similar kind of addiction. It has a few minigames you do every day that seem short but mount up to a lot of hours, and it has the same kind of system in which it urges you to play every day. As well as walkies . Axl RIP.

Added everyone !

It's weird, AC has always been compulsive rather than addictive. You don't have to tend to your town and see what bugs/ fish you can find or furniture to stumble upon in the shop, you just feel you want to and it's normally only about a half hour of pottering about, that's why it's an essential thing to have permanently on your system. I did find it annoying having to take my cart about and swap around just for my daily wander. It's also pretty much why I stopped playing, as some other game had my attention for longer and I didn't want to keep mucking about with the carts.

I can imagine I'll be playing this for as long as I have a 3DS and the spot pass and seasonal stuff remains novelty.
