Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo

I bought New Leaf on release and played it to death. Then sold my copy maybe about 2 years ago.

I've re-bought it again recently with the hope that it will integrate somehow with the mobile release.

 

Over the past month I have been playing it every day. Pretty pleased I made the decision to go back after today's direct.

The amiibo unlocks seem to be completely random. By which I mean the amiibo I scanned unlocked a character which is another amiibo I own. 

 

Guess that means I'll be able to unlock Epona, which my kids will go CRAZY for. 

 

So pleased to have this game back on the day to day routine.

I got Wisp this morning. Basically just walked around a bit until a voice called me over to where the lamp was.

Same -- although I saw online somewhere it was maybe more likely after midnight, which is when I got him. But that's obviously not going to be true, because they'd  be making it hard for lots of people to get it.

 

I'm now wondering if each Zelda amiibo is tied to a specific visitor. On the off-chance that anyone considers information on that a spoiler (I don't want to take away the scanning surprise):

 

Scanned the Zelda figure and got Wolf Link. Which made me think you just got a random one each time you scanned. But she triggered Wolf Link again today. Next up, scan wolf link figure and see if he gives me the same character.

Nothing matters except getting that rat Limberg back into our town. I already bought his card off the bay when they mentioned this new stuff. Looking forward to seeing the girlfriend's face when she sees him.

Using Wisp to move a new animal in via an Amiibo card, is brutal. I chose Olivia to move out, as I've got her picture, and well she's moving out tomorrow. I went to see Olivia, and she's already packed and ready to move.

Picked up that Wii U AC thing today in Smyths for £15, which was pretty good just for the 2 x Amiibo and 3 x cards. So good that I figured I'd grab KK and Tom Nook amiibo too. 

 

And then then I came home and, now having tried all my Zelda ones, realised I need Sheik to get Epona. 

 

When will the spending end?!

 

Also; a little harsh that it's one scan per game per day, not one scan per user. When the two other players are young kids, it's a bit much that I have to say 'no, your sister scanned an amiibo today so you'll have to wait'. 

 

(For reference, that was me finding one small niggle in what is an excellent and surprisingly generous free update!)

Just use Wisp and your Zelda Amiibo, and there will be an extra camper van at the campsite

I got pixel link, OoT link, and toon Zelda... only really want to open one so I can wrap the other two and justify my purchase by making them gifts for the kids.

There's no chance we won't see Animal Crossing on Switch in some form. I'd wager it'll be the mobile app first then then Switch game 2/3 months down the line. The whole point of them doing these apps is to raise awareness for the main entries to the games on Nintendo consoles.

So, I was bombing around the animal crossing track in mario kart yesterday () and it got me thinking: I'd kinda like switch animal crossing to be third person rather than top down. Everything could be kept the same, gameplay wise, but it'd make the village feel much more alive, make exploration more fun and so on. 

 

Oh man, I'm a big manly man but I do love me some animal crossing! I played the GameCube one obsessively, only stopping when I broke up with my girlfriend of the time. Didn't play another until new leaf and it didn't quite grab me the same way, only holding my interest for a few weeks, but I think that was because handheld gaming never holds my interest for long.
