The idea of paid-for stuff (which has been resoundingly unpopular and will probably be abandoned) is diabolical. Shouldn't it always be part of the subscription? I hope it will be for the majority of titles, at any rate.

Thats been covered though hasnt it, its not always a bad thing. imagine in the future if large amounts of extra content was made available for a title, a new city for PGR2 for example, now you dont have to purchase that if you dont want to but you cant expect developers to continue to work on a title for no financial gain. Say said city was £3 or some small amount, you probably would consider buying a coverdisk on a magazine if it had the same content.

If the content remains the same as now it is a very bad idea as there is nothing at the moment to justify any further outlay other than the £40 a year. I would pretty much prepare yourself for it however as it can only be a matter of time despite what any of us may think on the subject

But the same could be said if the material is released as an add on disk or mini sequel such as ghost recon and island thunder. There are definite arguements for and against but like i said its only a matter of time, microsoft is already testing the water.

My point was just that its not always a bad thing and some might like the choice of paying a small fee to reignite interest in a title that has been left to gather dust.

the new cars in MM3 are pretty neat.

i went onto mechassualt to check out what content you get and there was loads of free stuff and one package at the top that cost £3.60.

now i think that's a fair price judging by the amount of other stuff they've put out.

played the game for 5 minutes before remembering how shit it was and then played Wolfie which was shit as well due to no team play.

then i played PSO which is ruined cause even level 1 players have all the items. in fact people just turn up in a game drop stuff for you to get and then leave. no one actually plays.

then i look at my friends list and everyone's on PGR2. Then i cry because i need some online fun and don't have that game.

But what if the developers of a favorite game of yours 6 months after release came up with a brilliant new online game, would you mind paying a small fee for their extra six months of development time to re-establish your interest in the title?

After all most sequels are just the same game with new levels or tracks and slightly shinier graphics and people happily pay £40 for that.

I remember hearing that u just are billed for it when u order it, as they already have ur credit card details it wouldnt be too difficult for them to charge you directly when u make a purchase, much the same as a company such as sky would do when you order a box office film or football match.

Shinier graphics would be hard to do on update, but I can see your point...

How does the payment work, BTW? Straight off your credit card automatically? I'm a bit worried that MS' planned scratchcard Live top-ups might be incompatable...

on the mechassault download content screen i hs the pictures on the right and underneath they al say 'Free' except the top one which has £3.60. I didn't buy the updated back cause it has no specific details on what you get and i didn't know if it would charge me as soon as i pressed the button or if it came up with a warning telling me i would be charged.

When people go out on a weekend, and get pissed for stupid amounts of money, I think that a couple of quid isn't that bad.

By that analogy, premium content is entry to the VIP room and just imagine how pissed off you'd be if all your mates got in there but you couldn't...

Mass Effect 3 is okay but if you spend £5 you can get Javik in your party that makes the game 10 times better. Unlike most DLC, you didn't even need to wait +6 months for it. It was available at release and I'm grateful for EA giving us this choice.

11 years on and Left Behind was great.

I've heard Undead Nightmare is funny but I've never played it and then there's...

...

Rock Band - a lesson in how to spend over £400* on DLC and still think it's a good thing.

*probably - I haven't totalled it up yet. I don't really want to....

I once added up my total RB/GH spend. I can't remember it now though, I think it was so horrifying that I've repressed the memory.
