PlayStation Network

Went to play Superstardust HD today, it says there is an update to 5.01, but before the update is applied it forces a complete reboot of the PS3. If I cancel then the game is only available as a demo. I've tried deleting and redownloading. I can access the full game when not connected to the network.

When the update prompt appears don't accept it straight away. Wait 20 seconds then press okay.

Hopefully you shouldn't run into the reset issue by doing the above.

Can I ask, as I have before but nobody seems to know the answer (which is bizarre since it is so popular), but does Super Stardust have the into-the-screen between level sections of the original? How similar to the original is it?

Because I loved that but hated the between level bits.

I loved the between-level bits. Ace music during those sections, too.

Cool, I'll give it a go afterwards. Ta.

That worked.

Noticed that new purchasers can buy the full pack ( original and all upgrades )for £7.99, but those who've got just the original have to buy the individual add on's at the higher prices. Which sucks.

The gameplay is more Robotron:2084 than Asteroids/Stardust, you don't thrust and rotate your ship, it's a lot tighter and has a totally different feel. No into-the-screen bits either, just mayhem. It can take an age to play a game when you get good, but there are some timed/bomb only modes to tinker with. The bomb mode is like Every Extend Extra, it's ACEBEST (Possibly even SEXBEST when you hit the zone) mang.

Excellent, thanks. When I feel the need to splurge on a shootygamething I'll pick it up.

Why on Earth didn't you pick it up for free last month?

I didn't know it was free! Proper free or PSN+ fake free?

As far as I can tell this week's offers are exactly the same as last, but I've added the latest additions to the Plus content in green so it's obvious what's being added throughout the month.

My original intention was to also make note of new releases in the first post. However, dumping the entire PS.Blog listing in there seems a bit redundant. As such I toyed with the idea of only mentioning notable releases, but that seems open to a fair bit of bias — to use this week as an example, I've only heard bad things about Dead Block and am completely oblivious to 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures.

How would people like to see that info presented? Or should I simply include a link to the latest Blog post, only keeping track of what discounts are currently running whilst letting chatter in thread let people know if new content is indeed notable?

Good thinking. A mixture of your ideas I reckon - linking to the official blog post each week, highlighting the new PS+ stuff as you have done, and only mentioning full game releases and "big" DLC or BETA or TRIAL versions?

I was going to check that once the Store's been updated; the next few hours, most likely. If they still aren't on show I'll remove them from the list in the first post, but ostensibly they should be available.

They are available again!

This month was the best month ever to take out a 3 month sub. So far I have gathered £30 of games for free, plus extensions of the £40 of games from the free month, plus discount on Limbo, plus some really decent themes - all for £11.99. And I think the expectation is for Altered Beast, Comix Zone, plus 3 more PSN titles, 3 more PSOne titles and 3 more minis before my subscription expires. It's a great service if you want to cut down your game spending.

well if Everyday Shooter is up there as a "PSN Highlight" then Bionic Commando Rearmed 1 most surely deserves to be in that list too, no?

Have to be careful that the recommended list doesn't get out of control. I mean I loved Tank Battles as I nabbed it for 79p, it has a challenging as f*ck campaign mode and the multiplayer (one the 1 in a million chance you find someone) is great fun - but at £3.99 and for most people - its probably average or shit and the gamerankings score shows that (around 50% mark).

I was trying not to do this, but as I've had it in trading for 2 weeks now, is anyone interested in buying a card of £25 of PSN credit for £20? I'll just PM you the code.

Taken already; pending to Clipper.

can psn cards be used for PS+? I'm tempted to get both a US and a UK sub

Yes. I buy a $50 card to pay for my PSN+ US sub in three-monthly payments at $17.99, then I have some dollars left over for bargain hunting and I'll have enough for RE4  next month.

Make sure you turn off automatic funding though if you're leaving money in there for games just so it doesn't suddenly wipe you out on Excellent Game Release Day.

Is a US sub more worthwhile than a UK one do people think?

I've always had a US sub, so I don't know about the UK and whether it has different, or better offers. What it had over the UK version is that you could download deals from a time before your sub (they seem to have stopped it now) so when I started subbing I had loads of choice.

EDIT: If anybody has concerns, the auto-updater (one of the best things about PSN+ for me) updates games from all regions, not just the subscriber region.

I've just bought a $50 code so I can buy a years sub, just waiting for the number to come through. Only 2 days left on my trial so I thought I had better do it now to keep the stuff I've downloaded.

I don't think it's much of a stretch to assume the US gets the better offers, but I think which ever one you get will lose out to the other one on occasion. A $50 card is £36 on some of the sites selling points cards, but I've seen some sites wanting £38 or £44(!), which is a bit much when the face value of the card is £30 on todays exchange rate. £36 is just about acceptable. The stuff I have already downloaded on the trial is about £25 in value

Annoyingly I can't even open the page for the UK PS+ special offer because I'm already registered, even though it expires in 2 days, and this weeks Uk offers don't even show up at all
