Donkey Kong Country games

I'd say yes. They look beautiful, there are plenty of levels (and secrets) and the controls are responsive. About the only complaint would be that they are a little derivative but that would apply to plenty of other games. Cheaper to get them on SNES than GBA I would imagine.

I wouldn't pay a lot for any of em.

Nice for a collection, perhaps, but not as worthy games if you lack nostalgic attachment with them.

I'm sure many who were initially blown away by the aesthetics plowed through the game to eventually beat the last boss, find out only 57% was completed, think "Bloody hell... there's loads left" and struggle to power the game up ever again. Like me.

Certainly not bad games, but I'd never consider any of them to be classics. They are just slightly-better-than-average bog standard platformers, really. Like Donkey Kong 64, they're enjoyable enough first time round but there's not much to come back to. My brother and I really enjoyed DKC when we first played it in '94, but the game was a lot smaller than we had expected. The marketing boast of "over 100 levels" was refering to the songle screen hidden bonuses, I guess.

Wasn't it a sixty quid game when it came out ?

I suppose that would be like a £75 game today with inflation, for that much I can understand why people wanted more, than just a fun platformer.

But at todays prices no real reason not to pick up the first at least

The summer of 94 seems a long time ago

You know, I remember being at my aunt's house and her best mate got this on import, it was like "a big event" in their house. And you know, it really lived up to the hype, do games do that these days?

I only ever bought and played the 1st DKC (with Go Ape! CD) and I enjoyed playing it. Granted it's been many years since I've picked up the pad to play it but I found it thoroughly enjoyable and the graphics at the time were top notch IMO.

Thing that bugged me is that I never could find the elusive 1% which I'm missing (101% being the total achievable) :o
