JP - Are you worried at all that people might not buy the game if its that cheap. Percieved value and all that?

How come the publisher is selling it so cheap over there anyway? Surely thats unprecidented for a new game in the industry. Unless its Barbie Skating 4 or some tosh.

I believe Crave tried this with another game previously and did a million copies. I've ALWAYS believed in lower price points, I'm very happy about it.

Is selling it at $10 really going to be profitable for you? And aren't retailers a bit fucked off at the low margins it leaves for them?

Yes, No.

Ok then, well, all I can say then is good luck with it.

Lets hope you've set a precedent that others will follow too.

Well if it gets even half decent reviews in the states, that price point will surely have a lot of people rushing to get it. Especially those who haven't really tried this type before.

Strangely it will be the hardcore (the minority) that may be put off by the price. It's also worth considering the european reviews and their viewpoint on the cheapness of the american version - they might be a bit... ? ... bitter.

How has the european publisher reacted to this news?

Nice one John, I won't even try to bother blagging a freebie at that price. :o

50hz mode is 'proper' so 60hz doesn't add anything at all. We'll probably include it for completeness though.

Oh, so it's like with GoldenEye (and most of Rare's games) then? Good man. I do find it annoying when European developers write the games for NTSC, and leave it with an appalling 50Hz mode, so this is encouraging to see.

It sort of makes sense what you're saying, but in reality EU developers are no different to US developers.

In almost every case (with a consoel title) you're aiming for a worldwide market, and the US market is of primary importance. All the team sit with NTSC equipment on their desks, and the US submission date is always the important one. The reasons why a proper PAL version might be an afterthought are exactly the same for an EU developer as a US developer.

Freestyle Metal X was released at 20 pounds, and because of that did very well. I can see more publishers doing this in future, only their ultra top selling games will be 40 pounds, whist others will be lower in price.

Still...i dont like the new name, sounds a bit crap to me.
