Let's start the madness...

Another thing that has to be considered is cost- the game's one new feature, and the one that obviously the readers are going to be interested in, is the single-player mode. Which is funnily enough what Edge apparently focussed on.

Cost of a game should play no part in what score it gets.

If its good, its good.

OK - if they gave every version of bomberman 8/10, would you buy every version? you wouldn't feel even slightly gypped?

Bomberman Jetters is said to be a very sub standard wario ware clone.

Eh? Like 30 'move away from bomb' mini games?

They say there are two main modes, a simple standard bomberman and a sub standard pinball game. They say the mini games last too long as well and are too easy. A tetris style game is mentioned as is a crazy golf style thing. They don't like it. Let's leave it at that.

However, the review of Manhunt has made me seriously reconsider trying this title.

And the 5 for Dog's Life is about right. They pretty much wrote what I thought, in that there is a great, wreckless game in there that has been strait jacketed into a more family friendly game.

Soz, I got Wario Ware confused with 'Made in Wario'.

Yeah, shame about Dog's Life - that demo should me something that could be funky, original and innovative. Shame it never delivered. Perhaps a bargin bin purchase in a dry spell.

In so far as Manhunt goes, I'll maybe try it again (I bought it, got soo bored and frustrated that I took it back). I'll give it another go if it apparently u-turns into something great shortly after the part I gave up at.

Retro review? Yep. Horace Goes Skiing...

Ha ha! Cool. Score?

Transformers Tataki - 2

Is that a different game to the one they previewed last month?

It looks like it is indeed a different game, as this one seems to be based on G1 transformers, while the one previewed in Edge was based on the new Armada series.

Re. the Manhunt thang:

Yes, the first 5 or 6 levels are rather tedious and consist solely of hide in shadow, wait for bad dude to turn his back on you, walk up and execute, repeat...

BUT

...once you get to the mall and get some handguns, the game starts becoming really frickin' tense and brilliant and basically turns into a playable John Carpenter movie. I was completely unimpressed at first but the atmosphere kept me (just) interested enough to persevere and it does become ace, with some of the best gunfights/battles in gaming ever. Plus Brian Cox is frickin' fabulous in it.

But yeah, it means sticking it out for several levels of dullness first, if you can be bothered...

Firstly when you said it was reported to be a Wario Ware clone I though "umm, what, even though it came out ages before Wario Ware??".

However, when you went on to describe it it seems the UK version (or whichever they reviewed) is VERY different to the Japanese version I've had for ages (which is Jetters - yes I checked the box!).

Either that or there are loads of cool sounding mini games I've not yet discovered (which is possible if they're unlocked via single player or hidden away in the depths of Japanese menus).

Maybe one day in the very far future. I'm a huge Carpenter fan and thought it was pretty but bollocks and gave up early on.

As for 'mature' - I enjoyed these films all the more when I was underage, that was part of the appeal, and Manhunt seems exactly the same - if you're an adult and the idea of naughty killings appeals to you, the last thing I'd call it is adult. Let's face it, the game's aimed at kids.

5.

About right for a speccy game...

BIAST!!!! I wonder what score they'd have given it if it had appeared on the C64? ect. ect.

Well, it goes without saying that with it's three channel soundtrack and chunky old sprites that it would have scored at least an 11!!!11!!!

:P

Hey LOOK at what the Spectrum could do.

I'm in tears. I want my 1984 back.

There's something about Christmas and the ZX Spectrum.

Mario Party 5: Nintendo is raking in a lot of 5/10's recently. Although I suppose this game deserves it more than MK:DD.

Considering many rank it as the best mario party game, this is kind of shocking. I have played it, and thought it was great fun. I may even try and pick it up if i find it cheap, but i want the USA version (anyone selling it? )

The Mario Party games always score low, even though they offer some of the best multi-player fun to be had.

And from what I've played of Mario Party 5 it's looking to be the best so far, even the single player game is playable if not great this time around.

Work Filter won't let me look at that. What is it?

And 1984 saw me getting my first 14" portable colour TV! I remember playing Black Hawk on the C64 in glorious colour that morning... Ah, memories...

FFX-2 has scored higher than X, because it is much, much, much, much more FUN!

And better, and prettier and ACE!

In typical girly fashion, you only like it cause it let's you change clothes mid battle like some kind of fucked up Christine Aguliera gig!

No really. It's the only FF game (apart from that Tactics Advance dullathon) I've been interested in for years.

As someone said recently FF:XBV!

I just got a Beresrker dress sphere, it's like a little Viking outfit.

It's gorgeous.

Seriously though, it is excellent.

I just hope it isn't completely ignored by the crzay people that didn't like X.

It's brilliant, you won't regret it.

It's funny, charming, the story and structure is really good, and you can access the whole map right form the start.

The only bad thing is the new game, Sphere Break.

It's maths with a time limit!

But i'm ace at it now.
