Yet PGR2 is mind-numbingly dull.

In my opinion of course.

first console PS2?

this isn't an EA bashing thread this is a shit game bashing thread. read my review on the first page and tell me i haven't played it.

I can pretty much assure you that I have a far more "hardcore" games collection than you do, but this is besides any actual point.

I find one game entertaining and another boring. I have played both of these games and made my conclusions based on my thoughts. I have no problem that you may enjoy another game over one that I do, but are you really so pathetic that god forbid someone has different tastes to you?

Grow up.

I know this wasn't aimed at me, but .. I can't help myself. Anwyay, you're looking at the two on pure entertainment factor, which is fine, NFSU does have points over PGR2 which allows it to be more immediately entertaining, especially to those not usually into racers. But if you look a bit deeper, strip away the graphics, sound, gimmicks etc, PGR2 leaves you with a deep and fulfilling experience, whereas NFSU leaves you with an incredibly shallow game. Being easy and fast will make NFSU more popular, but it by no means makes it better.

But surely that depends on the criteria you use to rate your games? If somebody likes easy and fast games, they could easily consider NFSU to be better than PGR2.

Opinions are like arseholes. There are loads of them on here.

Lol, it's all very dependant on how you define one game being better than the other. I'm judging NFSU based on its qualities as a racing game, not on its qualities as something to please 2F2F fans. I'll happily admit that EA were smart with it, they knew who they wanted to buy it and they catered to them wonderfully, but anyone mildly serious about their racers will be disappointed with it.

What do you find wrong with NFSU?

the handling, the graphics, the handling, the physics, the sound, the handling, the tracks.

in racing games, for handling and physics, read 'gameplay'.

it's just all very *average at best*.

PGR2 does everything it does, and does it better, and comprehensively so.

What do you find wrong with the sound then? I find nothing wrong with the sound. The cars sound realistic enough to me.

cars are fine.

music is atrocious.

sound on PGR2 = excellent radio stations or your own ripped tracks.

Turn the music down, oe off if you dont like it. Then you can here the roar of the turbo kicking in. Thats if you like cars....

*edit* bastarding Enter button....

Well, that's the point, you have to turn it off. Simply having the ability to turn off the music doesn't change the fact that it's abysmal. The car sounds aren't that good anyway, especially since we're comparing it to PGR2.

I've not played PGR2 so i dont know how NFSU compares to it. But i'm guessing that PGR2 plays more like GT3? So this would make them very different kind of game to play. NFSU is a light hearted racing game. It more old school Ridge Racer style.

If anything, PGR2 is Ridge Racer online at times (depending on which cars and track you're using).

It's really more 'arcadey' than you'd expect at first, but the cars are great fun to drive.

PGR2 sits on the fence. A very sexy fence. It's fairly rooted in realism, but Bizarre obviously heard the complaints games like GT3 get of being incredibly boring to play and 'too' realistic. So what they did was take elements of real life racing (drafting, drifting, grip driving, weight shifting, etc etc) and place them in an arcade mould, a video game interpretation of real life rather than a simulation of it.

I should shoot you for comparing NFSU to Ridge Racer, they're both totally arcadey yes, but Ridge Racer's handling has depth, takes time and effort to master, and rewards the dedicated player. NFSU rewards the dedicated and the lazy/stupid alike, there's really no reason to put any actual effort into it.

I enjoy find the short cuts that are on each level. The clever thing is, that not all short cuts are the better options, forcing you to play again and again if you want to master each track.

I dunno i've got quite a nice Neo Geo collection and a Virtual Boy. :)

As most people say when you strip them down one game is ace the other is below average. Even Ex-God admits it and he's an evil nazi commie facist pig dog, or so i'm told.
