Nanomachines wasn't a spoiler btw, just a random word as someone wrote airplanes in the same context. 

 

I have no idea if this is any good, my post was feseacious (sp) in relation to the spoilers which had no relevance to if it was good or bad. I love ff and hope this can return the series back to glory, If it can't then Enjoy ff15! It might be the last!

I hardly ever watch movies these days as they make me fall asleep which is why I had to turn it off late last night.

I have to say it was actually alright though. You have to be a geek to watch it and the last 3rd did get rather ....Final Fantasy in a wierd way.

It does look quite amazing at times though and I'm glad I have a bit more of a grip on the overall story.

It'll lead well into the start of the game I think.

 

As for Final Fantasy being a disappointment.....

It's hard to say who's going to love it and who's going to hate it but I think it'll win some fans and a lot of other people are going to be buying it not knowing what they're getting into which will result in a bit of a backlash.

This isn't a spoiler As I can't possibly know but I think it's becoming clearer from what I'm hearing that they cut some corners. This won't be the Japanese Skyrim open world but more of a half way house. Some of it will be open world, some of it won't be I guess. For me, linearity has never ever been a problem in games. It's about story, characters ,gameplay and how the world reacts to you in terms of physics and detail.

If they do go for that structure then I guess it gives them an easy way to insert extra content in the future. Like Dragon Age.

One thing I will say that seems to be a tell tale sign of where it's going to go is the car. You don't actually drive it. You just accelerate or break and then tell it where to go at junctions. So from that I gather there isn't any physics and the world won't react to you in that way I consider to be one of the cornerstones of modern gaming.

I genuinely think the trouble with ff is they never knew how to keep up with other games. Ff6 set the standards high back in nes games, ff7 8 and 9 kept it there, though this greatly differs amongst fans as to which is actually good.

 

Ff10 was where the series wobbles, it was on the ps2 and other games on that console were coming out which did things differently and better. Ff12 tried to copy from these games and in my opinion lost something along the way. Some of its heart. 

 

Ff13 was utter trash. Square lost their way entirely and ended up with a mish mash of ideas of which none delivered. 13-2 was diarrhoea and 3, well let's not pretend it doesn't exist. 

 

Square as a company lost the plot, pun intended. Spirits within is without doubt one of the worst films Iv ever seen. Advent children was appealing due to being ff7, kingsglaive is horrendous. Literally horrendous. Why even bother making this garbage at all? 

 

Now we get to 15. Have they learned to make ff great again or have they just borrowed from other games creating a next gen Frankenstein? It's been so long in the making it just has to be bad doesn't it? It appears to me it will be trash. I hate everything about it, the models, the hair, the battle system, but deep down I really hope it's good. 

 

I guess its a bit like going to see your favourite musician twenty years later. The songs are still the same, the singing not quite so good but the show is nothing like it used to be.

The voice acting is what's putting me off the most. I've no idea why anyone thinks it's acceptable for games to feature embarrassing voice acting, they wouldn't act that way if they were in a film. Games look good enough now to convey subtle emotions through facial animation, we don't need whacking over the head with anime-level grunts and groans.

Yep! Voice acting for me as well. Especially as SO MANY other games are getting it right these days.

Ah, fair enough. I did wonder if it was a random joke but as I didn't read the spoiler I had no idea. Sorry! I've managed to avoid so much about this game I'm really looking forward to going in (mostly) blind. 

 

I found the first half of Kingsglaive to be decent. Nothing special but certainly watchable. Then the 45 minute battle began and it totally lost the plot (literally). It certainly got me more excited for the game which ultimately is its point I guess.

The car flies as the airship, but apparently you only get it postgame and the implementation doesn't seem great

The problem comes when all the voice acting is done in a studio and the actors are asked to put on a silly voice and read a script that doesn't make any sense.

Just another layer of issues as they bring this crazy Japanese thing kicking and screaming into the 4K era western world.

Game Collection are the cheapest at £38.

Almost guaranteed there is going to be a complete edition.

 

I'm in no rush to buy will wait for reviews & announcement on the DLC before buying.

Seems so.  After XII they've abandoned that.  On the upside, I don't remember having to grind (other than optionally to find some rare drop or something) in any FF from XII onwards.

World of Final Fantasy is turn based and a pretty decent RPG. I'm still pretty early on in the game but enjoying it a lot.
