They'll be disappointed if they do put it on eBay. As mentioned above, good deals if you want the game, but stuff like Killzone 2 fails to sell for 99p.

Are there any genuine 'could be sold profit' offers?

I think people are over playing this being 'the end of days' preowned sale a little.

Plenty of it can be sold for profit to be honest but not a lot of the £1-£2 stuff. Even then, you'll be surprised what bundles of tat seem to fetch on ebay. A current gen game is always worth 50p even if it is only sold at a car boot sale for £2-£3. Generally you are right though and it is mainly people getting caught up in the moment.

shame on blockbusters for that. dastardly cunts who aren't far behind game.

i was in my local game branch today and had nowt but admiration for the staff there; they know the inevitable yet were still giving good, friendly service.

Shame for those losing their jobs, but the boys at the top will walk away scott free

There were a lot of people stood outside the store with the copy of Mass Effect 3 they had bought in HMV taking their photo holding it up and pointing....

You have to wonder how empty some people's lives are that they think this is a photo op.

And yeah, I think we all know that the fire sale profits will result in a lot of high level resignations with golden parachutes....as I said earlier it's going to be sad if the ground staff loyal to the end get screwed out of their last fortnight's pay.

I really don't think the proceeds of the sale are going in director level payoffs. It's aimed surely at keeping them solvent until someone buys them.

Edit: slim chance obviously.

Not much 360 stuff in the central Cardiff stores today. Manager was telling staff to make sure games weren't stacked behind each other, but the 360 shelves were pretty much one game per space.

The PS3 shelves looked stacked though.

Meant to say that at the Queen St stores were loads of posters in the window offering 25% extra when you trade-IN 3 games.

I'll be sad at the thought of the High Street losing another major retail chain and a games specialist. But I've spent the last twelve years sad at the thought of how shit Game is after working in there while a student.

I was never sure if I was one of the good guys or not. It was Christmas and a woman came in looking for a second-hand PS1 for her kids. I looked through the tatty box of mucky, battered consoles and had to admit to her that no kid deserved to open any of them on Christmas morning. She ended up walking out with a launch PS2. A hero of a sales assistant for kids or a total cunt for parents?

I popped into the Camden branch today after work. At one point I had 7 or 8 games in my hand but sense prevailed and I put some things back before buying. Nothing there really leapt out at me and I spent far too long browsing.

In the end I picked up Enslaved, Metro 2033 and Mercenaries 2 for more than I'd have paid for them had SALE!!1! not been rattling around in my head.

I noticed a few people who looked like they might might be from this parish, also scouring the shelves and building up a decent selection of titles. I saw the manager step out from the back and noticed how bare the storage shelves were there. As in I didn't see any games at all. I also overheard a guy cheerfully chatting about how there was barely any stock left, the manager replying something about the weekend probably being the last of it.

I can't remember the last time I went to that branch and I don't think I ever bought anything, I used to go to the Gamestation down the road a lot, but they closed that branch quite a while ago now.

The one thing that occurred to me about the cheerful fool commenting on the state of affairs in the branch was that he obviously had some kind of a relationship with the manager, even if it was basically just being tolerated. As shops disappear it's perhaps a tiny step closer to a more lonely world. I won't miss Game but it's obvious some will.

They'll be in administration within a week. They are hoping to clear as much stock out this weekend as they can. The staff have given up on all the bullshit at the till and are just serving people and being good human beings. They deserve a massive amount of respect from us gamers.

Bloke who served me was trying to get me to buy a loyalty card :/

That Blockbuster ad is so misjudged. We're living through uncertain times in which people are losing their jobs.

Pointing out your competitors weaknesses whilst highlighting your own strengths is one thing, but mistaking a company facing bankruptcy with 'the gloves are off' is at best insensitive.

I was going to pop down to my local this morning and thought 'do I really need a load of battered, shitty old games even if they are cheap?'

suffice to say I stayed in and booted up mass effect instead.

Probably a good decision. I went in to have a poke around yesterday and there were a few things that I wanted, but the boxes on all of them looked like they had been used to clean a tramp.

I left empty handed.
