Just put the code on your trade card in at the checkout, and you need to scratch off the panel and put that number in too - you can't use it for pre-orders though. If you have an old trade card you might need to get it transferred to a new one I guess!

Don't GAME go boom and bust on every new cycle of consoles, can see the logic of floating now after the last bumper 2 new console xmas and the last gen super established.

Give it a year or 2 and things may not be so pretty

So I had one of those emails about the flotation which contained this ..

But wait... There’s more!

We recognise how lucky we are to have such an amazing customer community and we want to say "thank you". If our floatation is successful, we intend to reward 20,000 of our loyal customers with virtual loyalty shares to the value of £100. 18,000 of those lucky customers have already been selected from our most loyal Reward customers. That means there are still 2,000 lucky customers out there who may be chosen to receive virtual loyalty shares. We’re giving every customer who purchases any product in any of our stores or through our website between 19th May 2014 and 5th June 2014 the chance to be chosen as one of the lucky 2,000. If our floatation is successful, we will hold a prize draw and the 2,000 winners from this draw will be offered a number of free virtual loyalty shares in GAME - could it be you?!

and one this morning that didn't. Have they changed their minds about the 20000 loyal customer's reward? I know I will not be of the lucky ones. I haven't used Game in ages.

My local shop is far better laid out and the staff don't feel like they're constantly trying to upsell you out of fear for their jobs. Just generally a better all-round experience.

This isnt remotely true of course, they still have the same targets.

Yeah, you must have just had a member of staff or branch who didn't want to do all that bit. I went in on Friday and the poor girl serving me under the watchful eye of her manager offered me all kinds of bumpf, including some kind of insurance on the disc. And of course the pricing was utterly insane. Seemed like it was exactly the same kind of company as the one I left ten years ago.

I think the disc insurance is a pound. I actually don't think that's a bad deal if you're a parent whose children have a history of disc damage.

No idea what the small print says but if it is literally: Break Disc, get new disc, I think it could be useful for lots of people. I wonder what they do if the game's out of stock.

Sorry I wasn't really clear. The price on the games was insane, not the insurance.

Go in knowing what you're looking for, buy it and get the hell out of there. Don't spend a moment longer than you actually need. don't make eye contact, don't look at the sexy Sk8te punk/Goth lass and ignore the fat sweaty manager at all costs. You can spend a maximum of 2 minutes browsing the Call of duty/FIFA/Assassins creed and PES pre-owned section, it will not have any Lego or last of us discs at anything approaching a reasonable price.

Its the only way to shop at game

They're like cex in the way they get you to build up your credit with them, and then you just swallow the price hike at the till as youre a captive audience. That and the 2.5% back off the loyalty card. If youre a regular then youre effectively knocking 2.50 off every 2 games and getting the voucher offers. If youre a casual customer, you're punished.

£60 for Watchdogs.

If that's the only way they can make the business work and their competitors want to continue to undercut them by £15 I can't see how the business is viable for anyone.

It's actually £50 for the default game on PS4 (inc the playstation exclusive missions). The £60 version has some extra extra missions.
