The HMV near my office had Nintendo stuff one day, the next it was all gone - no price reductions. Then a few weeks later the bare-bones stock levels came back in, the latest releases on 3DS and WiiU. No hardware.

At that amount, the PE lot have already broken even on their investment, it's all free money from here on out, even if they just dumped the rest of their holding on the open market. As is typical of the current environment, any mug who bought in at the float is already nursing a loss.

The actual price per share has no real bearing on the total value of the company, they could have issued 10 shares at £10 Million per share if they wanted to, not exactly conducive to easy trading though. The amount of shares now is also much lower than what they had previously.

Share Price Per Share x Amount of Shares Issued = Total Market Value.

Their shelves are literally half empty. You'd think they'd fill them with something. Or remove some. Or something.

I always wonder if Newcastle is an isolated case, as it's always overflowing with stock of everything, and there's always people in there looking to buy something.

You sure? The gaming section was looking a bit sparse and it has been a couple of months since I went in.

Metro Centre at the weekend was the same. Had some interesting game merch in though which was a plus.

The shops are busy with people but theyre not buying all that much. No one buys cds anymore, dvd buyers now use video on demand, blu ray buyers wont pay HMV prices, game buyers go to game or online.

I know its obvious but theres literally no reason to shop in HMV and that's not changed. Ive seen the newcastle and one one at the metro and they are busy, but then you look at the queues and theyre really not. Not compared to their hey day when there'd be 6 tills on, ringing up 20 copies of some adele album per hour.

I've probably spent more at HMV in the past couple of months than any other shop. EDF 2025 for a tenner? Don't mind if I do! Even managed to get a 25th anniversary Mario DSi XL for 20 quid at the Metrocentre branch the other week.

Had such a different customer experience buying 2 games consoles recently.

I bought a PS4 a few months ago from Game and the shop assistant said nothing to me except "If you have any problems, it's not our fault, you'll have to phone Sony." I told him that's not true and I have a 1 year warranty, without making eye contact he just barked the same sentence again. Previously, I had only brought 2 things from Game in over 3 years, one was a PC game and it took 5 minutes for someone to serve me after they did not bother to take their alarm sticker off so I walked out of the store. The other time was buying a PS3 where she tried to upwell me extended warranty, I refused and when it came time to pay, she had snuck the warranty on the bill. I refused as I saw the bill on the chip and pin reader and she told me she could not take it back, after an argument, the boss said he'll take it off. Complete bastards.

Brought a Xbox 360 250GB E over the weekend from Sainsbury's and the guy said if there's any problems, bring it back and we'll replace it for up to 1 year. Could not be nicer and had a brief chat with me about games.

I've tried to only go into Game stores to buy hardware for these past few years but even then they make you want to never go in their BO ridden stores again. Awful customer service, high prices and poor stock. I'll feel sorry for the poor sods who'll lose their jobs but I really won't care if they fuck off to never come back.

The warranty is like 65 quid isnt it, how can you sneak that onto a sale. I'd have refunded the lot and gone elsewhere. Currys did it to me lact month, rang up a 6 quid per month charge on the ipad i bought and assumed i'd enter my pin. Er no, remove that and try again you plum.

Wools, if your experience with Game is so shite why go back to them? Why give them a 400 quid hardware sale?

Because I'm stupid and don't learn?

When I'm in the mood for a new console, I'm like a school kid and want it now, so Game was the most convenient at the time. When I brought the 360 on Saturday, I decided to go to Sainsbury's and save £30 and not get spat on by Game. Metaphorically of course.
