Camp 14: Total Control Zone, documentary about a man who escapes a North Korean labour camp.

I've just got Netflix free trial so can use on the ps4 while I'm on the laptop, first thing I watched was episode 1 of Pokemon. But..i don't understand why there isn't just a way to access every single thing they have on there, without knowing about and searching for it specifically, because that defeats the point of discovering stuff. On the laptop, it has specific genre searches, thriller lists 264 films, the ps4 lists 75. Is 264 the complete amount? Am I supposed to really go elsewhere for a full list, then type it in the search just to watch it? It's so unwieldy on the ps4, seems designed to shove as much stuff at you instantly, you can scroll up through the categories seemingly forever, 'suspense' films is next to 'exciting' films (I've never known that to be used either to describe a film or as a genre), and then there's 'popular on facebook' and 'gay & lesbian films'. That last one is a good idea to try something more niche, there should be just a page of a simple menu, film, tv, cartoon. From there into film, a search by genre, year, rating, and then more obscure search criteria. Letterboxd is by far and away the most pleasant and easy to navigate site around, and the lists on there people make are kind of crucial to finding out about new and interesting films. There's no other way. Either someone makes a list with a film in it, someone on your watch list reviews a film, or you check a director's filmography. It's a shame that Letterboxd doesn't allow for Netflix search filtering on a standard account.

Where do you buy Netflix gift cards from? I had assumed you'd be able to buy six-month gifts on the Netflix site but for some reason you can't. Can you get them in supermarkets or are they just not a thing any more?

They quietly stopped doing them, afaik the theory was that their gift card systen got hacked so they just shut it down.

We Are The Best! is on UK Netflix at the moment. It's a Swedish film about three teenage girls starting a punk band in Eighties Stockholm, and if you don't watch it you have wasted your Netflix subscription, as it's simply wonderful.

Great recommendation thanks. Another film I would have missed without this thread

Finished Marco Polo last night and overall I really enjoyed it and will definitely watch another series, should they make one.

Think it suffered from the press comparing it to GoT pre release, the material never had the same depth and quality to it, even if the budget and scale was epic in nature. Its beautifully made and looks incredible (aside from some dodgy CGI in the last episode).

Whilst I love Netflix policy of putting whole series out in one go it does pretty much totally kill discussions about them in threads as everybody watches at such a different pace - if this was shown weekly on tv think we'd have more discussion about it.

Stag is a nice Irish indie light comedy about a group of friends on a hill walking stag do. It's a little heavy handed with the sentiment and message on modern manhood in places, but really well acted and I found it genuinely lol-worthy in a few places, which is something I can't say of most big budget Hollywood comedies. Just one of those nice, different films you find from time to time.

Watched Get Santa with the kids and really enjoyed it, their fave scenes were Santas 'mean face' and when the female copper gets poo in her face.

Also watched Blue Ruin late last night, incredible, tense and very violent. Brilliantly shot and after checking IMDB the director unsurprisingly has a history of being the cinematographer. Might seek out some of his others.

Would not of known these 2 films existed without this thread, so thanks guys!

I'm really enjoying Marco Polo four episodes in. I love the look and exotic feel of the whole thing. The script is pretty poor in places and some of the acting is bad, Khans son is particularly rubbish. And the fact the story is told through the eyes of the white-man is annoying but it's an otherwise properly enjoyable show.

Actually the third series is the best one. Freak Show is pretty good too, but I'm only half way through.

What's going to be the next setting though? I haven't been able to come up with anything apart from from Ghost Ship, but that's probably not a great idea.

Anyone know if ps4 or Amazon tv Netflix do 4k I've got 4k telly but prefer the Amazon tv

I've got a Sony 4k tv and get 4k content thru both the native Netflix and Amazon apps - Netflix only has a few things (Marco, Breaking Bad, House of Cards & 4 nature docs). Amazon has put up a few films (but I think you have to pay) and a couple of their originals (Alpha House & Transparent).

I don't get 4k thru the apps on my PS4, I'm not sure if the PS4 even supports 4k content ?
