Played the PS4 version a couple of hours and wasn't too impressed. The handling feels like a minor step up compared to PCARS though - meatier and with a hint more feedback.

Apart from that, it's a bit of a mess sadly. Far from the all-round simulation excellence that PCARS offers these days (with all its updates).

Porsche Season Pass £12.93 on STEAM at the moment, bargain for 3 packs inc. 21cars. Follows in November on console.

The 1972 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 is awesome with a wheel and H-Shifter and the 918 Spyder round Brands Hatch GP is grin inducing :D

This makes no concessions to pad users at all. Braking is either nothing or full-on steering lock, even with ABS. So breaking into corners is impossible. Seems like the trigger sensitivity goes from nothing to 100% with a minor press. Nothing you can do to adjust it

Pad users, avoid this

I've read many others say that it's much better than PCars with a pad, maybe PCars is just really bad! Are you on console, latest patch apparently improved pad controls?

Without a doubt this requires a wheel/pedal setup to fully appreciate it though. AC is definitely the closest I've felt to driving, it's uncanny sometimes, I can intimately feel where I'm losing time through the wheel FFB (especially with the latest v10 tyre model) and racing some of the older cars like the 911 RSR and Ford Escort with an H-shifter is sublime. With a pad you'll never get near this feeling. 313 hrs and counting.

Today will be a day long remembered.

Because, finally, after a wait that has bordered on the imterminable, we finally have a licensed, official version of the greatest racing car of all time in a proper sim game. as part of the final porsche pack.

Looks and sounds amazing. no flipping brakes, though.

Bumping this all the way back up from last year. Hooray!

So I got bored not having a decent wheel to use in racing games after my CSR Elite finally started showing its age after 5 years of battering (and lost PS4 compatibility). Bought myself a new CSL Elite with a Formula Rim and picked up Assetto Corsa to go with it. Figured I liked Project CARS so I'd probably like AC.

Put simply, the driving in this is the glass of barrel-aged single malt to pCARS' Bell's. It's so, so much better. Granted the career mode is... er... well it is there and the online side of things is rudimentary at best, but I've just had probably the best hour of sim racing I've had in years. Took the BMW Z4 GT3 out around the Nordeschleife and a car that had me gritting my teeth and swearing on pCARS was transformed into a laser-guided missle that I was hurling around the track with complete sense of what it was doing. Bought the Porsche pack with the 919 Hybrid LMP1 in it and after a few laps around Spa I accidentally pressed a button on my wheel that I should have been pressing on purpose, because it's the magic button that unleashes the 4WD hyper-oh-shit-I'm-on-a-fucking-rocket-headed-to-Narnia mode. Awesome.

So yeah, this game is great. Just thought I'd share that.

@kiroquai nice one, agreed AC is amazing :D, I've had it since early access and it's fantastic how Kunos have developed and supported it.

A few essential mods are Helicorsa (radar app), ptracker(lap, timing app) and Donnington Park and Paul Ricard tracks.

Also in terms of multi-player look for 'minorating' servers, once you get your grade up to B you'll be able to race with a good crowd. I'd also recommend http://www.simracingsystem.com/ which is a great app for regular racing against decent fair racers.

Oooh. I am very interested in getting one of these. Especially since you can change out the rim and get pc, Xbox and PS4 compatibility.

How are you finding it. Is it a big step up from your Elite? And did you get the bundled pedals without the load cell? Very curious to hear what you think.

It's very nice. They've gone back to single-belt FFB rather than the dual-belt that the CSR had, but it doesn't seem to have had a negative impact on it. Kicks out a really decent amount of force feedback, and it's well-defined feedback too. More than good enough for me to feel comfortable on the full Nurburgring using a car I previously I had hated :). It isn't a massive upgrade from the CSR Elite (didn't really think it would be, as they're both pretty top-line belt units and belt tech has gone about as far as it can), but it's definitely better and will let me race around on everything released on the PS4 too.

Did not need to get the pedals as it's compatible with the CSR Elite and CSR pedals, which was nice as my CSR Elite pedals are awesome and, having been used for so long, feel like a comfortable pair of shoes.

OK I'm getting inspired by some retro racing particularly from the 1930s period. In particular the old Brooklands circuit! :) I haven't really messed about on the mod side of AC but I think there is a Brooklands circuit out there somewhere (at least I've seen it on YouTube!).

Should be a fun experiment.... I will post anything I find up here if anyone has similar interest in this. Just love the era flying up bankings and being on a really old bumpy circuit set in the pioneering time of motorsport. Just want a better experience than I had on the Dreamcast with Spirit of Speed 1937 which was let's face it crap! :)

Of course if anyone has tinkered already some pointers would be appreciated!

Not really bothered too much about the cost TBH £1 is very reasonable given how niche it must be and the time needed to make these!

Anyone bought any tracks from here? Just bought one and then after the paypal payment nothing? Does it get emailed to your or something? No explanations on site?  Confused :D

EDIT: All good. How it works is fairly manual. Essentially pay for it. Seller will get an email notification and then send you the requested track file over with password! :D

Suggested he put something on the web site to document this... can't be the only one confused!

So now just been for a spin on Brooklands with full VR+Wheel setup. Top stuff.... Just need to get myself some cars for the appropriate era although the cars I've found seem to crash on the current version of AC so probably things missing the new version depends on! All fun and games.... very much worth it though this is fantastic stuff!

The track is excellent - just had some amazing fun driving around Brooklands in a very slippery 1937 Auto Union Type C! All I needed was the wind in my hair! Great sense of being there and great to look around whilst driving especially on the open wheeled cars. Oh goodness this is such a toybox.... Time to find some more '30s period cars.....

The detail on the car mod is incredible... and unbelievably its FREE! :)

I thought it looked suspicious when someone had so many tracks for sale at so low a cost.

Right, after mild dissapointment with F1 2020 and with an eBay'd G290 sitting doing little I've just bought AC and downloaded some extra cars (I love classics).

Any other essential mods for graphics and so on?

At the risk of crossing the streams, there’s a chat about exactly that lurking in the ACC thread

Nice. I had a practice around some tracks in an FIA/Goodwood spec classic Mini last night. Lovely, I wish all the 3rd party models were that good (few are).

I am awful at this game as I can't judge how much to brake though, always too slow or too fast for a corner!
