I Want A Super Famicom/jr

Bada Bing!

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a few weeks and have come up with nothing but disappointment. I want a boxed SFC or SFC Jr in mint condition. Ones on e-bay have gone to the wrong end of a ton, which is silly.

Retro-Fish almost got me one, but his source let him down.

So, any ideas? I'm playing my Jap games using my modded SNES, but I haven't got round to doing the 60Hz mod yet, so I have to put up with bastard borders.

Thats been the going rate for US Jr machines for ages...

I got mine via a trade, why not search for a few trade lists and see if any US collectors have some spare and want British only stuff.

It's that or pay the going rate. I may havea spare Us original sized machine here, no psu etc mind...

SaxoVTS - How much was the postage?

Do Play-Asia have a depo or something in europe that they use, or do they send from Hong Kong?

I ask because i've only ever bought games from them and have never been hit with customs. So i'd like to know if i should expect to pay customs etc if i order a SFCjr from them?

Posted straight from Asia, so it's £23. I don't care though because I need it! I'll just expect to get stung by customs, and if I don't it'll be a pleasant surprise. :)

And yep, for some reason the SFC Jr's never came with video cables or PSU's, but I've got an old Gamecube SCART cable and both my NES and SNES PSU's anyway.

Just be warned that composite video from the Jrs is horrid. I would think seriously about modding it or getting it modded for RGB.

It'll stop you going blind in the long run.

It takes the SNES/NGC RGB cable.

And that sounds good, Freeman. I hope it's true in my case.

It takes the RGB cable when the console itself has been modified. Not straight up.

I think.... ;)

It's true, later US SNES's and SF Jr's do not output RGB out of the box - even if a GC lead works you'll only be getting composite. Looks like a fairly easy mod though if you know what you're doing.

I'd also hunt down a proper SNES RGB scart - I know the GC RGB lead (official one at least) doesn't work with most SNES's unless you hack it about a bit.

It'll output video via an RGB cable and depending on how it's wired you *might* get composite.

Unmodified Jrs never outputted RGB. PAL SNES, original SFC and US SNES all do but not the Jrs.

After a bit of research, I've been thinking of the Famicom AV (pictured below), not the Super Famicom Jr. I thought there was some SFC version with an RGB mod, but I got mixed up with the old AV version of the Famicom.

Any links for the RGB mod for the Super Famicom Jr? To be honest, it's won't be that big a deal, as until I track down a SCART/Component Converter I'll be playing in the SNES & SFC Jr in Composite anyway.

*was always talking about the Super Famicom Jr*

http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/snes2rgb.htm

I used the mod shown on that page... IIRC I had to do a little fiddling to get decent results.

Cheers Trev. I wonder if I could find the H&V sync's off that ship, and I could feed my plasma the signals directly as component...

Hmmm, your guess is as good as mine, if your handy with a multimeter there's no reason why you can't investigate.
