So, I figured it may be a decent idea for a thread where we can suggest games we're interested in from Kickstarter that could potentially be out of our price range if we were to support them on our own. Many of the games campaigns offer discounts (and often combine postage) if you pledge for multiple copies, so why don't we go for it?

First up, Farmageddon: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1892930431/farmageddon-the-frenetic-farming-game

It looks very Bohnanaza-esque, which to me is pretty appealing. For US$29 we'd be able to get two copies of the game, while additional ones will cost $12 each - that's £9.20 a pop. If anyone's interested, I'll be happy to front the cash if you're willing to fling me it over via Paypal. So, what say you?

A few of the online shops do give a discount for size of orders or if you're ordering a few things in for a club. But I think the cost of having a bunch of stuff sent in bulk and then having to ship them off separately to each other would cancel that out.

Maybe it would be worth doing for Kickstarter stuff though. I was reading LMDS today and it recommends this

The extra cost to have it delivered outside the USA/Canada is crap, really crap... but at the higher end it offers deals that are meant to be for retailers that have extra free copies. Maybe doing that would be worth our whiles. It even gives us time to discuss it before putting money down.

We wouldn't have to ship all of them though, some people could pick them up. Especially if we said they could be distributed at a meet.

I'm thinking out loud really. It just feels like we have quite a lot of buying power for the size of the market.

$130 for 12 copies, means it would be £7 per copy. But, a huge box will get taxed which will be roughly £25, plus shipping between people (£5?) makes it a guesstimated and wangled £15 per copy. MSRP is $25, or about £15 per copy.

But if shipping can be avoided and it flukes through tax it would be very cheap.

And who receives them all? And then re-packs them and posts them out? And ponies the money up front/chases people for cash to do the order? Sounds like a lot of grief, to be honest.

But ignoring boring things like taxes, I do like the idea. And Farmageddon does look pretty good...

It should be alright as long as people put up at least the direct conversion + a bit extra for P&P ...if it costs any more due to customs we can sort it out then. I don't think anyone is going to risk pissing people off here.

I'll go in with that Farmageddon with you (as I said in the other thread) ...but we got a while to sort it out if anyone else wants in and we could group up people who live close by each other for even more savings.

In the case of Farmageddon, I'm not entirely sure there is a saving looking at it. Pairs are still below tax level, but by the time you've posted it in the UK you're not really saving anything.

Big lots makes more sense for games that are already above the import tax level though.

I've just backed Woe to the Living:

It's a $9 pledge and $10 shipping, althogether meaning it's abouit £11-£12 shipped (if it gets backed). I reckon it looks superb, is 3-5 players and perfect for a between-boardgame sesh with your mates. Back it so I can get a copy ;)

I hope people don't mind me posting another pick here; I don't want to spam the thread :unsure:

But what about this? A tactics / strat game based around Mecha / frames that uses pieces of Lego kit as pieces!

You need to supply the Lego yourself and are just paying for the rules really, but it sounds as though the rules system is good an lets you be creative with the creations you pick. You can buy-in to the rules for $10, which is pretty good. I'm sorry, it just looks awesome to me - BACKED \m/

The lack of a multibuy option for the normal edition is what puts me off the most. The boards are lacklustre, but (assuming they don't get improved by a stretch goal) could always be replaced by boards from some other sci-fi skirmish game (or the many resin/foam modular tile systems available for wargames).

For miniatures fans there are a couple of campaigns finishing on Indiegogo within the next day or so. Both are from small UK-based companies with established games who were looking to expand their range. As both campaigns have gone way past their initial funding there's a whole range of extra figures being thrown in for free...

Sedition Wars has passed $100k with still a month to go so looks like it's turning into another OGRE/Zombicide juggernaut, and given the quality of the figures so far (most (all?) sculpts by Kev White of Hasslefree: http://www.hfminis.co.uk/ ) could end up being a stonking bargain by the end of June. The tiles are a bit... different to most modular crawlers - they actually remind me most of Space Crusade's - but they've said there will be ten of them (sides I assume) so there should be some replayability there.

The pedigree was enough for me tbh - this looks like a perfect Hulkalike after the disappointment of Project Pandora - which I admittedly haven't played yet :facepalm: because it's another Mantic budget-stick-some-sprues-in-a-box substandard package that no one I know wants to take a punt on.

Rob Fahey posted this last week on G+. Sedition Wars Battle for Alabaster. It looks dead interesting but I don't know if I can justify the outlay of $105 with shipping

I was going to, I really was, but between Tales Of Arabian Nights hitting the UK again by the end of June and Descent 2nd Ed probably coming a month or two behind that AND those god awful boards (the Space Crusade analogy is a great one) Ahm Oot.

There's a note appeared on the Sedition Wars page saying that whilst EU orders still need to add the $25 shipping they'll ship all copies together and re-distribute from the UK to save any additional worries over Customs, etc. Given that funding has hit 150k so far, adding in an extra 26 or so figures, this looks like it should be an auto-purchase.

As for the boards - I'm not too sure what people dislike about them. They remind me of Advanced Space Crusade or Super Dungeon Explore, and make a nice change from the standard corridor systems other games use. I guess it's down to personal preference.

Ooh. I was just looking at it again today and saw how high it was getting. I kinda regret not getting zpocalypse, though the game structure turned me off, and definitely regret not getting zombicide purely for the minis, so this is getting really tempting now. I may wait until the final days to decide.

Well, I hate the ASC (and normal SC) ones too. They don't lend themselves well to variation or randomness from a game perspective and - honestly - I just think they look fucking ugly. Like you say, personal preference I guess.

Sedition Wars has passed a few more milestones, and as well as all the extra figures being included they're offering a couple of cheap add-on purchases. Particularly nice is the limited edition (Kickstarter/conventions only) Dr Susan Ridley, who comes in normal and infected versions for about £7.

They're also producing a plastic terrain set to go with the game, an extra £20 for 70 pieces.

Yeah, I'd say that terrain is the real winner - depends on the scale of it, but getting decent quality terrain for wargames - particularly sci-fi, skirmish wargames, where you need plenty of small terrain pieces - can be something of a challenge. £20 for a set like that is pretty damn good (though the lack of walls/sections to install the doors into limits their usefulness to certain types of skirmish game).

oh Oh OH! The scenery tips it over the scale for me. The video with the models and scenery looked gorgeous and then they played on the boards which I'll say no more on.

ARGH. I'm not sure I can afford it though. AARRRGH.

EDIT: Definitely can't afford it:

$100 for Biohazard level

$30 for terrain pack

$10 for Ridley

$25 shipping

= $Space Hulk 2009 prices

But yeah, it is roughly equivalent to Space Hulk... but then, it has more than twice as many miniatures: 81* to 35, plus the extra terrain bits and bobs. In those terms, it's something of a steal!

*79 if not including Ridley and strain equivalent
