The Kickstarter Group Thread

Yep, a dozen games of Forks (sometimes vanilla, sometimes adding in Merge) and no reliable strategy emerging yet. Feels incredibly swingy in the last couple of turns. Any broad strategic tips?

I've only played twice (once vanilla, once swap) but won both games, largely by avoiding one company completely each time, and largely collecting middling value cards while investing the high value cards or passing on low value ones to guarantee they'd be invested. I'd like to play it some more!

I got the rest of my Dark Souls game today. Shit my pants as I had an email saying I had a delivery but couldn’t recall ordering anything. There’s fucking loads of it! I’ve still not attempted to play it - it’s a bit poop isn’t it? I have zero experience with proper board games.

My wife has asked if it is accessible, also a novice.

Hmm I’ve opened it all now. I also cannot be fucked with eBay anymore.

I shall leave each piece to someone in my will, so they can remember me.

I genuinely like this idea a great deal.

Unbroken is finally on it's way.  I half expect them to have put a single second class stamp on each package........

(they won't have, since they aren't doing it themselves - I gather they pulled a fast one in the US by using an inappropriate mail service).

And it's a neat enough game.  I'll post in the what are you playing thread if I have time.  One thing which leaves a bad taste, although perhaps we shouldn't be surprised, is the predominance of Golden Bell staff in the credits, giving themselves rather grandiose titles to boot.   You get he impression Safarov was just a bit part in this, despite the fact that GB were  only involved late on in the KS.

The Isle of Cats has turned up - very impressed by Frank West's communication and project management.  Let's see what sort of a game we have here.

Anyone interested in Black Sonata, winner of a prestigious Cosmic Black Hole award for solo play, there is a reprint and expansion up now https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sideroomgames/black-sonata-the-fair-youth?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=black sonata

Really tempted by this but no group buys, $1 doesn’t give you access to a pledge manager, plus shipping and import duty...So it’s all in or nothing.

Might just wait for it to hit stores. Just got to hold my nerve for a couple more weeks.

There is actually a group saving to be made on shipping. Four units in a group-buy brings the shipping down to $8.25 each, meaning the total game shipped will be about £75 delivered.

Tempting - would there be any interest in a group pledge from here?

I’m still umming and ahhing over whether to get it, but my mate’s already got me pencilled in. What I would recommend though is that if you’re doing a group buy to make sure you all live near enough to each other, or can meet up somewhere,  that you won’t have to post it again within the UK, otherwise it’s pointless.

One of my very long outstanding KS has arrived - Anno Domini 1666.  This is well outside my normal "comfort zone" for games since it is a fantastically detailed card driven period (sort of, not strictly because of fantastical elements) 2P war-game with incredibly detailed character sheets and miniatures.  The Polish team responsible have taken some stick for fulfilling Polish orders first and selling units at conventions but there isn't the same bad taste as with Unbroken.  Also, they have taken on the whole packing and distribution task which is immense with something this size - I have no idea if this has would have proved cost effective for them compared to using one of the usual distribution agents.

Speaking of cost effectiveness, I'm compiling a spreadsheet of KS costs since I got the bug big time in April 2018 :quote: :o.  Not co-incidentally, I'll be looking to move some games on shortly.

Having managed to resist Oath and refusing to get sucked into the bottomless Marvel money-pit, I’m backing this. Political intrigue and global manipulation? Yes please.

Looks pretty interesting and it’s not break the bank.

Coming soon!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1243243962/pax-pamir-reprint

 :omg:

Reprint of the 2nd edition of Pax Pamir. For those of you who didn’t take the plunge with Oath, this is an excellent alternative from the same developer, who also did Root. Tried and and tested, much loved and a great solo mode. Oh, and cheaper too. Probably.

A really beautiful game.

Infinidungeon

Choice of 6 20 ft long, 1" gridded, wipe clean dungeon maps on a scroll.. £38 for a scroll and a pair of the handles.. about £30 for additional scrolls £150 for all 6..

(One is a plain grid and the 6th is to be decided by backers)

Looks fun, but might be a bit overkill!

I did back the creator's previous Kickstarter - which was for an A2 sized dungeon layout book, which was excellent..

A couple of friends of mine are launching their new game Theurgy on March 10th and have just release the promo video. I played it not long ago and loved it.

Hey, I know Tom! Can confirm he is super. I've actually played this game with him, a long time ago. Just checked BG Stats to confirm. And I beat him at it. :)
