It's the way the people who made the film spell it. That's how it is on all the posters, the blu ray case, the trailer and the movie itself.

But yeah. Pretentious.

But it’s fun to play along with in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.

I mean, it is pretty pretentious. But it's all in line with how period accurate Eggers tried to be. Stuff like the dialogue and dialects, the clothing, the construction methods etc. were all as accurate as he could make them. And the letter W was written as VV in the 1630s, at least in a pamphlet about witches in New England that Eggers found from that time period.

Yup

Why is "WITCH" spelled "VVITCH"? ANSWER: In the period you see a lot of period sources with VV instead of W, but I have only seen it on larger type sizes, like the equivalent of 36-72pt. Basically, if you didn't have a W, ran out of Ws, broke your W, didn't want to buy bigger Ws, you could use two Vs. The double Vs are not close together because the letter block was fixed for the correct kerning.

Yeah, Censor is good. Nice nostalgia vibe if you remember the video-nasty era, loses it's way a little near the end but is worth watching.

We loved this! As you say the end doesn’t really maintain the quality of the rest of the flick but it was still decent. Had no idea it was the main actress (Niamh thingummy) going in, and she was brilliant.

Also a boon seeing Tyres from Spaced and Lynn from Partridge onboard!

I watched Midsommar last night and thought it was absolute class: cinematography, music, Florence Pugh’s acting. Everything.  Grateful for a filmmaker where everything he makes can be looked forward to (or maybe feared 😂)

Watched VHS 94 last night and thought it was a better anthology from them this time around.  Particularly the crazy middle story.

Censor was also viewed last night. Really enjoyed it. Will be watching out for more of Prano's work in the future

Just watched Gonjiam Haunted Asylum. Korean found footage film. If you like these, this is pretty predictable, but enjoyable none the less, with some decent moments when it all starts kicking off.

Yeah I loved this, its like a Korean version of Grave Encounters, there's some particular great moments in this movie which I found really effective.

Yeah, very similar. I also watched The House October Built, which I thought was unpleasant and rubbish.

Isn't that the one when they try to find the scariest haunt or something, if so, didn't enjoy that or the sequel. Try Hell House LLC next, another low budget found footage movie but I enjoyed it better until the last part. Or you probably seen it but Lake Mundo is another good one.

That's the one. Just... I like my found footage about ghosts, monsters and supernatural stuff. Blair Witch, The Tunnel, Evidence... That kind of thing. I did like Lake Mundo, and Hell House LLC was OK.

Yeah I just recommend Hell House because I watched it around the same week as The House October built. Another one probably seen too, Taking of Deborah Logan?

I never realised that was a found footage. The poster always put me off. What was the other possession one... The Devil's Due? I've watched so many, they all merge shakily into one.

Think its found footage, but definitely try it out its pretty decent. I just watched Devil's Due trailer, but if its the correct one you saw it looks and sounds awful.
