Careful. We'll eventually become competitors and then I'll have no choice but to try and crush you ;)

Seriously though, send us through a copy. I'm going to look upstairs for the original and we'll try and sort that interview out.

Few new (free!) magazines available on U-Publish guys. First off is 3DO Zero Magazine:

http://pixel-nation.co.uk/index.php/online-store/product/146-3d0-zero-magazine

Next up is the 3rd issue of Retro Games News:

http://pixel-nation.co.uk/index.php/online-store/product/137-the-retro-games-news

Thirdly is the 7th issue of PC Engine Gamer:

Another entry to come in the next few days. In talks with a few more fanzine makers and really pleased with the library we have started to build over on the site. We have a mix of paid and free content with the goal to offer as much as possible in one central location, think its all coming together really well!

Fantastic news and what I'm hoping will excite some of you, both issues of Pixel Nation are now available for £5.99 including free shipping. This lasts until the 20th August so just 2 weeks or until the stock runs out.

Thanks to a special offer from the printers we have been given a much lower price on the current print run but once they are gone its back to normal. We only have a small number of these so it really is first come, first serve.

Who knows if this goes well it might become a more regular price assuming I can negotiate enough with the printers!

Issue 1 can be found here:

Issue 2:

I've also dropped the price of the PDF download to match as well.

Is there any sign of either a dedicated Spectrum or Amiga fanzine surfacing?

Tbh I really don't understand the lack of a quality Amiga magazine. Time and time again I see people asking for it yet no one seems interested in creating one. Given the rich heritage of the machine, especially in the uk, it's amazing. :(

Really liking this magazine :)

Oh and it looks good on the iPad. Quality is nice. But its not optimised so you get four pages (two by two) to one iPad page. Generally that is OK but on a couple of pages you have to zoom in. Dont know how easy it would be to create an iPad optimised version with one page to one page?

Also viewed it on an iPhone 4s, its the same on that, so you have to zoom in quite a bit to be able to read it, but its still readable and looks good.

Good news! The price drop we ran the other week was a huge success and after talking to a new printers have managed to slash the price again, this time for good. Both volumes can now be bought for £6.99 each including postage. I will keep trying to bring the price down, the idea of course is for as many people as possible to read each issue :D

In other news we have managed to snag exclusive looks at a couple of unreleased games, a GBA and PC title. One of our writers is doing both pieces but the plan is also to take a lot of screenshots and video footage so there will be a decent online record available beyond the actual issue. Hoping to turn this into a regular feature with a decent look at a new unreleased game each issue.

Been awhile since my last post but things are still happening behind the scenes for PN3! In the run up to the 3rd issue I thought I'd run a competition, simply visit the sites Facebook page and like the competition entry:

http://www.facebook.com/PixelNation

Closing time is October 20th 2012. Where I will pick a winner at random from the likes and ship the books out, so won't cost the winner a penny. Please spread the word :D

I'm thinking of doing a regular podcast for Pixel Nation either weekly or perhaps monthly. But its all pretty new to me and I need to practice playing around with sound, editing etc. Really just asking if anyone here would be interested in taking part? Maybe just a couple of guest parts or even co-hosting. Drop me a message if that sounds like something you would be interested in!

It will of course be retro focused but have so many ideas of subjects to cover. You would need a decent microphone and I have all the necessary editing equipment here so just a case of turning up!

Some news! Work on PN3 is forging ahead and we have around 80 pages finished so far so expect a release soon!

David Marsh of Shadowgate fame talks to us, a look at the GBA unreleased game Spiralstone and a lengthy chat with Stephen Hornback responsible for the likes of Duke Nukem/Alice and a pretty in-depth look at Myth (one of my all time favs as a kid for the Speccy).

More interviews, improvements to designs and even more writers are joining the team. Really proud with what we have managed to achieve so far and looking forward to hearing what people thing.

As PN3 comes round seriously considering stopping the print runs for older issues, it costs a lot of money to get these done guys and it always has to be in bulk. So there's a good chance that once the older issues have sold out there won't be reprints so grab em while you can.

Some previews of pages to follow, still in the design page but should give you an idea of what to expect :D
