What the chuff? Did I just finish this in 3:47....? Best rain/water ever!...but awful.

I don't think it includes retries/restarts etc in that time but yeah it's generally a lot shorter than the others. What difficulty you play on Fusty ? Mine was around 5 hrs (i'd say around 7 - 8hrs in total) or so on Veteran difficulty.

Saw the advert for this during the football last night, the bit where he points his bow towards the helicopter and then turns to the camera before firing, and then basically winks at the camera like he's Dennis the Menace and not a multi-billion dollar cyber man. Yeah, that bit.

All the videos make the engine look fantastic but the game itself dull as. Imma do exactly what i did with Crysis 2, wait until a price fall and there are loads of mods out (maybe even ones that don't require me to shoot things in the face all the time). I am excited about Crysis 3, but not because of the game.

Also this looks like a completely pointless game unless you have a decent PC. Looks aside, Crysis 2 was some way off being a great shooter and this doesn't look much better.

I don't see what was so bad about Crysis 2 as a shooter. The guns were fantastic, the suit powers were a blast and I generally didn't have many complaints about its combat really other than say the AI not being the greatest. My only complaints were the cut down areas in comparison to the original which this one rectifies to a degree but there was still some good level design to fuck around with the enemies.

Out of curiosity did Crysis 2 get many mods on the PC ? I keep forgettnig how moddable these games are.

I picked up Crysis 2 at launch without really reading too much about it, so as a huge fan of the original it kind of disappointed me. However, I finally started properly playing it the other day, and actually I think it's bloody great. Sure, it's a very different game than (the majority) of C1, but I think it's a very decent shooter. There are also parts of the game that are utterly, utterly gorgeous to look at - the cryengine is really, really great.

So, with my new mindset I'm thoroughly looking forward to Crysis 3...I am most definitely a man of simple pleasures though - pretty graphics, and stuff going boom does it for me.

I just found it very forgettable. I know the shooting had a good feel to it but I never felt challenged when playing it, and I think - due to the cloak in particular - it was just very unbalanced, and ended up having to use things like bosses to give the player a harder time. Or the aliens, which I still thought were generally pretty awful despite everyone going on about how they were good now. They weren't . I imagine creating a stealth game which is also fun is incredibly hard, and I thought Crysis only got by when it basically admitted it wasn't a stealth game. In the end the camo suit felt arbitrary and I think it would have been a better game without it. I thought they should have focussed on the suits' stength and speed augments.

My strongest memory is being so bored during the last level that I just camo'd my way through it killing practically no-one, because there was only aliens to fight, which were no fun. That was more due to the final quarter being poorly paced than the game being bad though. It's not a bad game, just not at all excellent.

Ah fair enough. I don't mind though that there are powers that basically break the game. That's fun for single player games and I like the fact it wasn't really balanced at all for cloak. Felt like a proper badass, sneaking up on folk and taking them out. It was essentially make your own fun and I loved that, seeing what the AI would do even if they were daft as a fuckin brush. This is only made better in Crysis 3 where you get the bow and the various arrow tip types. It's fucking awesome. If you remove the cloak though I would strongly argue that it's no longer Crysis. Hell I'm going to see if someone does a mod where I can remain in cloak for a lot longer :D I do really miss speed but I'm guessing this was removed due to putting 2 and 3 on consoles. That's only a guess though but speed was brilliant in 1, I really miss it. You get the ability to hack things now as well, such as doors, turrets and even certain alien machinery.

I've never been a big fan of the aliens either, especially in Crysis 1, but felt they got better as the series went along. I didn't really mind fighting them in 3 because when you kill them you get to pick up their weapons for a brief time. so it's fun to jump into a crowd, kill one and grab their weapon and then take out the rest.

It did say at the end of game stats though that my most used weapon was the crossbow :D

I can definitely relate to the empowerment, but generally I think great empowerment is better when it's only given to the player at certain times, like a release. The example I always think of is the end of the first Riddick game. Litter the game with those mechs and they're just another vehicle section. Having it once, after spending all that time scrabbling for your life, made it amazing. I'm not directly comparing them, just saying that too much of a good thing dilutes its impact.

Er you can get the first one for Xbox and Ps3 these days, silly!

(Though obv the PC version is the one to go for if you ave the choice. I seem to remember Tim only has an average laptop for some reason)

Could probably run the first on modest settings but yeah, I needed a laptop.

I played about 3 hours of Crysis 1 on 360 but got a bit bored. I'll pick it up again someday though. The fact it's not boxed makes me forget about it.

Do they explain what happened to Psycho's suit?

If so - what?

Aye they do

Basically he was 'skinned' by Cell and had it forcibly removed. Psycho only survived as he's a right hard bastard whilst a lot of the other nanosuit wearers died of shock.

Brilliant!

I really enjoyed Crysis 2, great gun porn action.

I bought C3 from Game as it also comes with a free download of Crysis 1 for PS3/360, so i'll get an extra lot of gaming for the sake of £3.

By the time I flog the 2 other pieces of DLC on edmond bay it'll probably have rounded up to £20 or so.
