So, I did one of these last year and was recommended some great music, some that turned out to be my records of the year. So fire away - albums, singles, ep's, whatever you're listening to. Perhaps you'll turn some listeners on to something new and awesome.

Grimes - Visons

Excluding those mentioned so far (Grimes, Chairlift, Killer Mike, Death Grips), Slow to Love by Doe Paoro is my favourite album of the year so far.

You can get it as a pay what you want download here: http://doepaoro.bandcamp.com/

TRST by Trust is good too, recommended for fans of Crystal Castles/Cold Cave and the like.

ALSO:

John Talabot - Fin

Sharon Van Etten - Tramp

Anais Mitchell - Young Man in America

Looking forward to Friends' debut next month too.

I haven't heard a great deal that's blown me away so far this year, the Grimes album is probably my favourite but there's been plenty of good stuff. Some of my favourite releases not mentioned:

Portico Quartet - Portico Quartet

Monolake - Ghosts

Shackleton - Music for the Quiet Hour

LHF- Keepers of the Light

The Hot Chip off-shoots New Build and The 2 Bears released fun albums too. Beach House and SMD albums next week should be worth hearing.

For most of the year I've been obsessing over particular eras of old music, so I've not listened to as much new stuff as I usually do. That said, I've enjoyed records by Lone, Actress, Grimes, Innercity, 2562, Voices from the Lake, Carter Tutti Void, John Talabot, Julia Holter, Demdike Stare, Earth, Chromatics, Drokk, Killer Mike, Pop. 1280 and Black Rain. Not a bad year so far, but nowt special.

I probably hated everything else. Really looking forward to that new Laurel Halo on Hyperdub, though, and that Gatekeeper album with the first-person exploration game thingy sounds interesting.

My list will probably cover most of what's been mentioned.

Chromatics - Kill For Love

Symmetry - Theme For An Imaginary Film

First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar

Moodymann - Picture This

Clock Opera - Ways To Forget

John Talabot - Fin

Django Django - Django Django

Lone - Galaxy Garden

Andrew Weatherall - Masterpiece

Pepe Deluxe - Queen Of The Wave

The Shins - Port Of Tomorrow

Patrick Watson - Adventures In Your Own Backyard

Howlin Rain - The Russian Wilds

Cage & Aviary - Migration

DJ Food - The Search Engine

Beach House - Bloom

Santigold - Master Of My Make Believe

Orbital - Wonky

Seriously looking forward to the In Motion#1 compilation and new Sebastien Tellier album , and must remember to get Loops Of Your Heart, and look into La Sera, Nite Jewel and Frankie Rose albums.

Have to say that Bloom is absolutely amazing. Was never completely won over by their previous albums but this is in new stratospheres of brilliance. Solidly one of the best albums I've heard.
