why did CDPR seem like scumbags?

They promised their developers wouldn’t crunch before forcing them into crunch and then it turned out they’d actually been forcing them to crunch the whole time and the new crunch is extra crunch on top of the hidden crunch.

They’ve had multiple issues where they’ve said things that might be seen as transphobic but it happening multiple times seems suspect.

I felt that Witcher 3 relied on quite a lot of sexist tropes and had a slightly misogynistic tone. I also found the writing didn’t have the maturity to appropriately cover the more serious themes it wanted to tackle.

Says the guy who literally posted nonsense to have a go at me!

I was hoping it would be a good game. I almost got into the Witcher but the crappy combat coming from Bloodborne put me off. That and the endless crafting material. But I can see that I missed out on a good game underneath my issues.

What is pretty clear is that this game is broken, with ok combat and some ridiculous claims about being the first game ever to manage something that noone can quantify and so therefore if you're not totally dying to play it now you're trolling?

Is that about it?

Aye I posted nonsense towards you chap... No bother.

I don't think you are trolling either for what it is worth. I genuinely believe you dislike the game, and you are projecting that clear as day.

Anyway happy days, at least we can agree that The Witcher 3s combat is pap. I will play CP on Thursday and hopefully enjoy it. I am approaching it with a pretty neutral take that it's probably gonna be a mess in areas, and fantastic in others. That is enough for me.

I can't dislike it, I haven't played it. But I don't think it looks all that. Happy to be proven wrong. FWIW I played LoU2 for about 15-20 hrs before getting bored.

Come on man, people criticising the marketing practices of a company based on the marketing they've done is absolutely not the same as criticising a game you've not played. I get that you're really into this game and all that, but use some common sense.

I have deciphered the three main groups of people and how they should progress over launch of the game for best enjoyment of those involved.

1: Poop and won't play - these are the guys who want to poop on the game saying it is poop but won't buy or play it but will be on a mission to ensure others do the same or at least don't enjoy it as much

2: Poop and will hate it but will continue to play it and keep hating it more and more - this windmilling will be very entertaining for the other two groups to enjoy. At one point someone will be unwise to say "why don't you trade/stop playing?" which will invite quite the tirade

3: Those who enjoy it despite the bugs/flaws but any genuine enthusiasm will be lost in the sea of 1 and 2 or heavily debated to failure.

There will be some minor genuine and well thought of criticism inbetween.

I will be 4: Avoid the thread like the plague upon release but enjoying the lols for now

My comment was more of a general comment about people here being negative about the game’s quality without having played it. Quoting was a bit out of context so apologies for any confusion. With that said though I don’t think I’m way “into” the game, I’m just mentioning  many reviews which think the game is great despite its bugs.

Are you going to play the game?

I absolutely have no doubts I’ll enjoy the game. I’ve loved and enjoyed all CDPR’s previous output and I’m a huge fan of the genre.

If there are some really major bugs that bugger up the game, then I’ll most likely act like a grown up (according to the law I apparently am one now) and just wait until they get sorted out and play something else.

Give it a fucking rest mate. There's a world of difference from people posting well argued criticisms compared to the insane frothy-mouthed garbage people like you spew out on a weekly basis. Your posts in the Last of Us 2 thread leading up to release were an embarrassment, before you did a complete 180 praising the games LGBT and trans representation. Gee, maybe if you waited till the game was out you wouldn't have looked quite like a fucking giant tool, would you?

There’s also a major difference between thoughtful critique and people who haven’t played a game desperately parroting anything they can find about how wonderful it is whilst s blindly ignoring criticism or throwing about playground insults because they’re so fragile that they can’t handle the idea that everyone isn’t as excited as them about a new game.

I was pretty clear in the last of us thread that I thought the story would be good, which when I watched a play through it was. I was also pretty consistent that in terms of gameplay Naughty Dog games are generic shite for idiots, and watching the whole game it absolutely was. That thread had the exact same posters who are desperate to have their preconceived ideas about a game they had already paid for because they’re suckers for expensive marketing validated. And the exact same boring arguments made about how if people aren’t going to join in with the hype train they’re ruining the fun and should go away.

I’m sure there’s plenty of places online that have childish positivity about anything expensive like you’re looking for. The discussion here is more varied. Why not do yourself a favour and go read the Twitter comments on the latest trailer?

What I don't get about this thread (and the way discussion works here in general) is why some people are so keen on gatekeeping what can/can't be discussed.

It's daft.

Scroll on by the stuff you don't want to read or get involved with, surely?

Yeah, totally agree but i look through the thread and I don't see anyone blindly telling us how good it is other than one chap whose actually played it. I do see the usual suspects saying how fucking shit it looks and how the reviewers have been paid off though

'generic shit for Idiots' - that some of that fine nuanced, thoughtful critique you were on about earlier, i assume? LOL

I realise there's a bit of irony here as I'm also now gatekeeping, lol.

Yeh I do agree that Witcher was actually misogynistic. I think the book was to a degree. sadly I think I really liked that at the time. conflicted about this now that I think about it. I have to admit working on a threesome cutscene for 35 hours was "fun". but 2020 Oz is now conflicted.

Well exactly - it is healthy debate to point out how unhealthy gamerzzzzzz debate is sometimes! I think there is nothing wrong with pointing out that for those who many enjoy and genuinely engage in discussions there are those where it can tarnish and take some of the joy out of hobby that is so wide and far reaching you will always have diverging of opinions but people are suspect able to certain types of pile on negativity that can occur.

It's all legitimate! It's the same reason why I avoid pretty much all social media - I find the constant trudge so tiring and would rather just enjoy myself with the limited enjoyment time I get outside of lifes dull responsibilities

I still haven't started Like a Dragon properly. So my plan is to check Cyberpatch out and if it's too buggy even after the meaty day one patch, I'm going to play LAD first. By the time I'm finished with that, they'll be on patch version 2077 and all will be well :)

I'll play it until I find the experience feels a bit compromised in that state and then just drop it until a few patches but at least I will have got it out of my system

As an aside if anyone is going to wait on this now that the reviews are out but have worked themselves up into a Cyberpunk frenzy, may I recommend Shadowrun: Dragonfall. It's the best Cyberpunk game I've played.

Are there any good videos of the gameplay etc and how it plays? I realise I could search for it on Youtube but I was hoping to find some sensible game footage by someone who isn't a howling gibbon* and who might shut up for 5 seconds so I could hear it as well as see it.

Even when things are calming down you can always count on Broker’s “varied” discussion to show how much of an asshole he really is.
