Have GameSpot being picking up a lot of shit for that 7/10, anyone know?

The author's mentions are a horror-show at the moment (assuredly exacerbated by the fact the she deigns to be, well, a she); I imagine Gamespot as an entity is probably getting some equally eloquent accusations of feminist bias/unprofessionalism/failing a developer who've crunched so hard they deserve better treatment(!?)/etc., but perhaps less of the outright slurs.

What the hell? GameSpot aren't just awarding high scores because the studio want them to? And it's a woman saying these things?

Man, sometimes I really wish there was some sort of online pressure group focusing on ensuring that video game journalism is suitably ethical. I have extra concerns when women are writing things like this.

Any used the game collection outlet on eBay before?

do they usually send before release? I bought this on the bay, before it was delayed and didn’t cancel.

They dispatched them today under 48hr postage.

Do you think that they should or should not?

I don't think they should, at all, if that's how the reviewer feels about the game - I'm just interested to see if there's much of a backlash as they seem to be the only major site to give the game 'just' a seven.

*while we're here, would anyone like to spin up the old argument about whether the original Deus Ex is an immersive sim, an RPG, or both? That's always good for a laugh.

Posts earlier about Cyberpunk “not being like Deus Ex, it’s a proper RPG” made me think that if Deus Ex is not and RPG, then that means I’ve never played an RPG in my life.

I loved it regardless, but I'm a total fanboy for the series due to the snes original blowing my mind as a kid. Dragonfall is the best one, so start with that. If you want more, Hong Kong is more of that and really good too despite its flaws. Hong Kong as a cyberpunk city is of course great.

I completed the first two games but I can't say I really liked them very much, for various reasons. I might still give Hong Kong a bit of a try as I have it, but I'm expecting it to be very much more of the same so I'll probably bounce off it.

While awaiting the results of someone else's covid test I'm going to be self isolating. I suspect it will be negative but it will likely mean I get an unexpected day off work to marvel at the bugs in this on Thursday. Then go back to playing Yakuza LaD.

There's a list of supposedly cyberpunk videogames here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Cyberpunk_video_games), and it's generally utterly laughable. It's more like a list of games that look a bit like Blade Runner; I can think of about six games on there that even vaguely fit into the genre. Although for all that cyberpunk as a genre is basically William Gibson's books, along with several million other extremely pale imitations.

I did a listicle thing recently about what makes a cyberpunk game cyberpunk, and picked out some examples. Some of them probably stretch the definition a bit, but I wanted to get some variety in there:

I find the backlash in these situations almost always unwarranted because no one has actually played the game to compare thoughts. Purely as a writing piece I found the review mediocre and unfocused, with arguments like “side quests don’t advance my main character feel in the main quest” (bit paraphrasing here, dont remember word by word) very general and without merit. The actual writing skills felt like a teenager was writing sometimes so I wasn’t won over.

On the other hand I found her clean points about the trans advertising not being explored more in the game much more balanced than Polygon’s forced and illogical five paragraph rant right in the beginning of the review, although the latter had a very high level of skill in the actual writing which I enjoyed a lot more than the Gamespot piece. Personally I have come to like more and more some of the reviews of mainstream outlets lately than classic game press.

Surprised you haven't spent more time playing it and just enjoying it instead of seemingly spending all your time online pillorying any reviewers with the mildest crticisms of the game over the last 48 hours in that case.

I am not doing that though, my previous post was the first one about reviews I enjoyed or didn’t enjoyed, but feel free to assume whatever you like. :)

I only got the code yesterday morning for the SX. CDPR hadn’t sent anything console related earlier.
