I’m wondering how is this on Stadia now? I don’t want any graphical compromises but I can’t afford a pc atm. I have a 500/500 line. Will it be glitchy? Stuttery? Full of artifacts etc?

With that internet it should be flawless.

Updated this on my Xbox last night, might try it today if the pull of the second round of the Champions League Path fixtures on my FM save in Latvia doesn’t suck me in!

Played like an hour at launch so going to start a fresh, any tips on what to start as?

Interesting point re: input lag.

It's more noticeable in some games than others, but yeah other than better overall visuals 60FPS often also controls better. Even if people aren't consciously aware of it - you sometimes see someone post that they don't have a problem with 30 but are surprised that their scores on some old FPS boosted Xbox game are suddenly a lot better or that the game feels/is easier.

At the end of the day it's still a matter of preference, but it's a good idea when comparing the two visual modes in any game to also take note of how the controls feel. Like Linneman says the Forza team did an excellent job of making 30 look and feel good - but they're a notable exception.

Anyway, first impressions from a few hours play: uhm I kinda like it a lot? Am I playing Cyberpunk wrong?

I'm definitely in the performance over quality camp and input lag is the main culprit for me. Recent examples I have tried such as Avengers, Watchdogs Legion and Control UE have abysmal input lag in quality mode and I much prefer the silky smoothness of 60fps over some nice reflections. Cyberpunk will be no different for me.

So how is the PS4->PS5 save transfer? Does it just recognise it or do you need to do something clever?

I’d cleared the PS4 version from my hard drive a while ago, so downloaded the PS5 version (and stopped it from downloading the PS4 version again).

On start-up I just selected Continue from the menu, and it dropped me in where I last was.

I’ve read that it only lets you import your last save, so I’m not sure what would happen if you have multiple games on the go.

Is it better than Stadia now? I’m not sure I’d ever replay it because I don’t usually bother, but I might be tempted on this occasion…

Weirdly, I played the Stadia version over the weekend for the first time in months, and I thought it looked awful - really

fuzzy and washed out. Although I suspect this might have been Stadia itself having a bad day.

I’ll compare the two when I get to the open world bit, to see if stuff like the additional pedestrians and traffic carries over to Stadia, and if the visuals look appreciably different.

I thought the Stadia version was akin to a super PC levels of performance and will always be better than anything the consoles produced?

I started a new game on PC. I will download the trial on PS5 but will not buy this on account of horizon which I bought the day before this came out. Another baffling decision by CDPR releasing this in February. A great decision to have a free trial. I think a lot of people will be surprised that this is not as bad as they thought.

I’m undecided as to whether to play on performance or ray tracing mode. I’m not bothered by 30fps, and in fact quite like the chunky, hefty look it gives games - 60fps can sometimes look a bit too smooth and artificial to me.

30fps in this is horrible though.

Agreed, played it yesterday morning (on Series X) pre-patch as it'd been a while and I wanted something to compare it to. Played post-patch last night and 60fps is lovely, I couldn't really see why you'd go ray tracing mode at 30fps as it just looked so clunky after performance mode, might just be my rapidly aging rubbish eyes but I stuck to 60fps and had a great time (2:30am finish, oops)

It's not. Both the PS5 and Series X should beat Stadia hardware (due to it being newer hardware, clearly more powerful in the case of the series x and the usual console efficiencies you get) until google upgrade their stuff. Although K's post seems network/video latency related. Current PCs are significantly ahead of the below. There might be some server scalability but from my own usage, the graphics/framerate you seem to get from Stadia games the below looks about right.

Hardware Stack

Custom 2.7 GHz hyperthreaded x86 CPU with AVX2 SIMD and 9.5 MB L2+L3 cache

Custom AMD GPU with HBM2 memory and 56 compute units capable of 10.7 teraflops

16 GB of RAM with up to 484 GB/s of performance

SSD cloud storage

Didn’t make a great first impression, when you have that impressive hi-detail character gen model, and then it cuts hard to some low-poly last gen in-game version in the corpo mirror. Bleh. But it improves. Not a fan of the JJ.Abrams lens flare either.

30fps was some nauseating, smeared shit though. 60fps is the only way. Also finding the aiming and aim acceleration is well off. Took me an age to dial that in to something remotely fun to play.

I had a quick shot of this after the patch on Series X and the "Ray Tracing" aka Quality Mode was a waste of dev time imo as the frame rate is awful, but the Performance mode feels... Flat? At least it's a solid frame rate.

I'll start up a new save this weekend since I previously gave up because of the jank/bugs, but performance mode is the only way I can cope.

Does anyone have any tips on whether to keep the "atmospheric" settings on or off on console?

I saw film grain, chromatic aberration (??) and a few others - keep all on or does it make any difference?

This looks both VERY similar to the last gen version on Series X and yet so much better - obviously the resolution boost helps massively but yeh, feels different too I think? Early encounters feel much harder than I remember - my first cyber psychosis encounter in the car park was tricky.

It was supposed to be the best version after high end PC on release, but now that may have changed.

I’ve played this many hours on Stadia, and can confirm it’s spectacular, with minimal issues…it’s certainly never suffered from lack of pedestrian density like the console versions:

Just go with what you like; I don't think there's any performance difference.

Is this a free upgrade to the PS5 version if you have the PS4 version? One of my kids got it on PS4 at release, laughed at the bugs for a bit, then put it in his cupboard, so I have a copy to hand.

Yes it is, put in the PS4 disc and a boxout will appear allowing you to download the PS5 version.

If the problem is input lag, then you're not going to be able to tell from watching a video.

Yeah, of course, I was talking about the jerkiness and camera stutters people have been talking about. Thankfully input lag won’t be a problem as well, since I have found when people complain about it in other games, it’s not a big issue for me.

I’ve been playing on 30fps and don’t think it’s bad at all. I’ll caveat that with the fact that I’ve only played for about an hour and not tried 60fps yet :)

Sometimes 60fps can make things feel far too smooth and “fake” looking. I’m sure I’ll swap between the two but it’s not the vomit inducing hellscape that some people are making it out to be. It looks great!
