I've looked at the 30fps mode in a couple of places.  Both times I didn't notice a visual difference, other than it being unplayable.

I'm not saying that to be hyperbolic, I really wondered why they included the mode. I suppose it's me that's changed,  or maybe my tv makes 30fps look bad - I don't know if I've played a game in 30fps since I got it - but looking at Cyberpunk, 30fps seems worse than I remember it being,  I assumed the game was actually limping along at something 20fps.

I imagine you’re just way more used to 60fps games than I am. I couldn’t get used to how sterile everything looks in the performance mode and 10 mins after switching back to 30fps mode I’m totally used to it. It probably helps that I I’m deliberately quite slow when playing these kinds of games and usually go down the stealthy route as well. Motion blur is less jarring then.

Quick question and apologies if this has already been answered. The five hour demo on PS5...is it the same bullshit of five hours from the moment you hit download? I don't want to waste my time and bandwidth if that's the case.

Workaround if so is to create another account, download it using that, and then start playing it from your main account. Bullshit but it’ll get around the problem.

Lore question. The currency is EuroDollars (€$). So, I get people calling them EDdies. But what are “ennies” currency that other NPCs definitely refer to in dialogue and subs? Another (unnecessarily confusing) name for the same thing?

They're referring to smaller denominations of currency — the equivalent of saying pennies. If you read the shard describing the Mox in game, you'll see another word deriving from it; 'ennyless' artists.

It's 5 in game hours, not 5 hours of it on your system.

Started playing this at 8pm after dinner, blinked my eyes and it was 11pm. Just messing about in Kabuki, getting into scraps and taking in the sights. There have been so many sneaky QOL updates in this, too many to count really. Wish they’d just waited another year tbh, but I do feel like I’m enjoying it even more this time round. I’ve done 2 full playthroughs pre-1.5, and a few abortive starts here and there, including the 50 hours I put into Act 1 and gushed about.

Very Hard is so much harder this time around, not just because of the rebalance but also enemy AI is less cretinous and every other enemy seems to have status effect ammo & the grenades fly in thick and fast. This is the Game of Revolvers: you move quickly between cover and nail all your headshots and reloads or you die.

Kerenzikov has been buffed also - if you dodge while ADS with it you scoot about 15 feet (like the mantis blade dudes) rather than just sidestepping like the normal dodge, which is how it was before. Really really helpful for moving between sparse cover or closing distance rapidly. Strong recommend.

Finished up in the container yard NCPD Scanner Hustle behind Judy’s flat just as day broke. Took some time to stand by the fence overlooking Kabuki Circle before calling in my bike and heading home for a shower and a nap.

Was having so much fun I forgot photo mode existed.

Another UI niggle.  I really struggled with the first proper mission (with the woman in the bathtub), which is partly because I'm really bad at aiming in 3D and struggle to play FPS games generally, but partly because I could barely see the aiming crosshairs of my gun when trying to aim with all the other visuals going on.  Is there a UI option to make this clearer or more visible somehow?  Or does it change according to weapon?

I spent 120 hours getting to the title screen on my most recent file, then decided to take a break from the game because I was a little spent.

But yeah, that would have been a nice gesture.

I don’t even know how that’s possible, I just started a new character and did everything in about 7 hours with a lot of pratting about in menus. I know they let you loose but it doesn’t feel like there’s much to do at that point.

Maybe try fiddling with the colour blind or other accessibility options - they'll often make things higher contrast.

Is there much difference in the classes?

Played a few hours as the Corpo last year and just re-started as the Nomad.

Apart from the opening ten minutes it’s all identical so far.

Opening 20-30 mins (if that) and some dialogue choices in the rest of the game, that’s it.

Count me in as another one who prefers the civilised, 30fps ray-traced mode over the smoother but less atmospheric chav option.

Either way this is a massive improvement over the last-gen version; really glad I abandoned  it on the One X and waited a year.

It really is. Someone said earlier fps tanks in Lizzie's. I'm not sure what was that about. Game was fine, not a single drop. Watched a video which shows what the RT mode brings, there's tons of things that get shadows and that is why the world feels so much grounded and "full".

As for the world itself, its an unparalleled  achievement. It feels so much like a real world. After trying HZDFW  for some hours, it felt so "gamey", so flat.

I cleared the entirety of the Watson district on foot with no fast travel. There wasn't a single gig or NCPD call left to cover. Quite funny in that the last icon on the map that I’d left to discover was Regina’s place, so I got to meet her in person, as well as catch up with an old side-quest NPC.

This is the way.

I love being greeted by that giant security turret as the elevator doors open - the woman is not messing around.

I will admit to blazing across parts of town I’ve already investigated thoroughly to avoid backtracking.

A nice things about foot patrolling neighborhoods is hearing someone getting threatened nearby and breaking up a mugging, or a random gang shoot out. You miss so many dynamic events if you’re driving around with the music on. By the time you’ve gotten close enough to proc the event you’re already way past it.

Kabuki is such an awesome neighborhood, it’s a shame it’s so small. The verticality and intertwining alleyways and staircases, it’s like a warren, a neighborhood that was just cobbled together on the fly with no planning. A Frankenstein’s monster of a place. I feel I know it like the back of my hand now.

Can anyone recommend a decent beginners guide for the game? Feel overwhelmed with all the sections, tabs, mods etc that are selectable, what to do, add, choose etc

As there seems to be a bigger improvement and numerous QoL improvements with the new patch, assume any original video guides would be outdated now to watch.

Playing this on PS5, incase anyone was going to link to PC guides, incase they affects recommendations :)

It can be overwhelming but my advice is that you can enjoy the game without fully deciphering all that stuff.

So for equipment, usually a higher/green number means better for the most part. Obviously there are mod slots and modifiers but for the most part, you don't need to worry about them early on when you won't have access to epic/legendary gear and good mods anyway. So higher number, usually better if you don't mind fashion souls being put to one side.

As for stats, upgrades. I always like putting some into body or technical so that you can force open doors in areas you are exploring to get access to some secret rooms/shortcuts to places. If you want to specialise in quickhacks, put points into intelligence, if you want to go around sprinting with a shotgun or LMG causing havoc then body and then perk points into annihilation, if you want to play stealthy then points into cool etc. You can always reset your perk points for not too much cost too so don't worry about it. You don't need to have all the stuff figured out in the early hours, particularly as a lot of it isn't useful until a little ways into the game.

Thanks, that helps.

I've basically spent about 10 hours just going around watson going gigs and NCPD stuff. In this playthrough decided to set aside quickhacks, stealth, subtlety and just go all in on frontal assault with LMGs, shotguns and grenades. Having a fucking great time. The loop of shoot, loot, and lore (all the little shards and enviromental details are so much fun) is so fucking compelling.

Yeah. I’ve now done the heist, the interlude and the car chase after the interlude (all big set-pieces) and the ray-traced frame-rate has been solid throughout. I have completely disabled all aim-acceleration though, it’s awful and twitchy even on low settings and the controls are much better without it.
