I'm almost in a state of shock at how short the main story is.

I enjoyed it but when it said point of no return I was imagining that the world / map / location was gonna change drastically after the mission - not that it was the final one.

Damn I feel so unsatisfied. I'll go mop up the side quests I guess but still... :(

This game is like Skyrim in a sense (except the main story is more entertaining here), it isn't about the main story. It's about doing gigs in NIGGGGHHHHT CIIIITTTTTY. Anyone rushing through the main story in this game isn't giving the city its RESPECT.

I'd have loved to see if they could have effectively made Cyberpunk some sort of anthology game. Sort of like a 'Tales of Night City' scenario, where you play various different random folk and just tell individual stories.

You could be literally a random person walking the streets, overhearing conversations and then pressing a button and your viewpoint flips to that particular conversation you want to jump in on - it'd be a pretty fun way of tying all the myriad of side quests together for me at least.

Obviously, I have no idea how you'd work out a logical way to sort out how stats and abilities would work, but I reckon there'd be a solution to that.

Although you don't play as different characters, it already feels like 'Tales of Night City' to me. The main and side quests all explore aspects of the city through the situations you find yourself in and the people you meet, and the situations THEY find themselves in. The City is far and away the most important character in the game.

Oh for sure. It why I have such thorough annoyances with how the main narrative plays out and how I once again lament my odd inability to get over it ;)

I keep finding new stuff in this game, even after more than 120hrs. Like, I just stepped out of Misty’s shop and saw an area cordoned off by the police, where they were using holograms to recreate a crime scene, Batman-style. You could see the perpetrator try and kill someone, and then get taken down by MaxTac. Amazing stuff.

They’ve definitely added more incidental stuff in, I keep hearing pedestrian conversations that are new to me, some quite long interactions too, more than the usual five or six line exchanges they typically have.

I listened to a poor guy raging for ages while he was on a support call for his broken eyes or something.

Man, I downloaded the PS5 trial yesterday, played for 20mins and just couldn't do it. Wasn't broken at all it was just painfully dull. Was chatting in a garage, multiple choice dialogue for ages. Then drove somewhere, the car handles awfully, like GTA4 or something. "Go to the radio tower!" so I drive through this bland looking brown desert. Then up to the tower, "Go and see this person!", so back down, drive again. Find the person, more dialogue trees with both me/character being all grunty and sweary. He's like 'Go to this place" and I just noped out.

Is this trial some kind of mishmash of the games intro or is this the intro as it plays out in the actual game?

Depends on what background you chose creating your character. Each route has a different intro, sounds like you chose nomad? If you want to see the city/less driving for the intro go streetkid

The first car you have handles awfully because it’s just a shit car.

I got the PS5 version on Saturday morning and I've put in 13 hours already. No bugs, no crashes , it's far superior to the launch version and really quite impressive. The character models and environments look amazing, super smooth frame rate too. Dual sense support on vehicles and guns too. Makes Elden Ring feel like a bit old guff on a purely technical level.

Rather than carry on my 10 hour save from Dec 2020 I just started over as corpo. Glad I did because I'd forgot half the mechanics and buttons. I gotta admit I wish they had redone the inventory management during the many patches it's received because it's still awful.

Definitely recommend it though if you dropped it on the original console launch

It’s the worst game of this generation. On no accounts should you play it until it’s ‘fixed’, and based on the current roadmap that’s expected to be v4.3 at the earliest.

I didn't encounter any issues, it was just dull. I did Nomad, wondering if I'd have a better experience if I went with one of the other two, as suggested.

No, the other two lifepath choices are even worse. It’s just a bland, ugly game with nothing to do in the ugly, formulaic, copy/paste gameworld. Story and dialogue are terrible also. I’m on my fourth playthrough, out of spite and masochism more than anything else, and I still haven’t discovered anything I didn’t discover in the first couple hours of play. I actively dread having a few spare hours in the evening where I’ll have to force myself to keep wandering around this soulless environment that is utterly devoid of content.

Gosh - avoid this awful game.

I just hit a point of no return after 40 hours and I have too many interesting side missions going on to even consider wrapping it up. I also have blades coming out of my arms and can double jump so it feels like I'm doing deadly parkour in Night City at this point.

I also just did a main quest mission which had some really spectacular visuals and huge crowds of NPCs, and it had my PC chugging like a bastard so I'd be curious to see footage of that running on the consoles.

Closing in on the point of no return and hit two game breaking bugs - thankfully an earlier save solved the issue.

But now I’m getting anxious again because it seems another one has hit - or simply is taking too long for the event to be triggered? It involves the Judy quest line and when

Spoiler

we are about to take over clouds. I decided to help and slept in her apartment and since then no calls, nothing. I did the Never Fade Away quest and still

nothing… Waited for 24h and still nothing. Should I do more side quests?!

A little help would be appreciated because I’m afraid to Google in case of spoilers.

Yes, do more side quests. I just did the bit in your spoiler this evening. A few hours later, I got a text and a new mission but now I’m waiting on a phone call.

The problem is I have no text or a new mission in my journal. The quest has totally disappeared.

I will do some more side quests and see. The whole game I literally had no bugs at all - just a couple of graphical glitches in 60+ hours. I Hope cyberfate is not out to get me now. 🤔

There was nothing in my journal until after the text.

Some of the side quests are properly long, longer than main missions really.

It's all about the side quests.
