Oh man the amount of times I bring out fists in a gun fight is so embarrassing.

Not if you’ve got gorilla arms…it’s embarrassing for them!

Ah, gorilla arms and a handgun. All I needed to cause untold misery to the already unhappy citizens of Night City.

You have made a critical mistake. Katanas are Wired, mantis blades are Retired.

Also melee is for gorilla arms.

Do gorilla arms get fixed to the melee button if you have them?

I get it. So gorilla arms are a brutish, clumsy adaption of the melee attack (sends gorilla arm users wild :lol:but mantis blades have to be treated as a weapon because they allow you to block and parry. Cool. Still a shite way of doing it.

Feel a switch to the projectile launcher might be better and then move back to a decent sword. Especially if its wired? Is that a night city way of something is cool / lit / legit / a vibe or whatever else people use nowadays in place of normal words? :)

Also... is it only Johnny's revolver that reloads that absolutely stunning way? I'd happily switch to an underpowered gun if its reload animation was the same as Johnny's.

Only that gun. Has a good melee option as well.

Which understandably leads me to my next question. Who do I have to kill to get that gun? Just give me a name.

Keep playing. :)

I’m roughly 10 grand away from being able to buy the Type-66 Cthulhu and I don’t think I’ve been this excited about acquiring something in a game since I first used Cerberus in DMC3

It looks like a slightly more aggressive version of Pattinson’s bat mobile and once I get it I can’t see me needing another vehicle. Perhaps a better bike at some point but I’ve spent the last 6 or 7 hours doing missions purely to generate funds for this car. I’m obsessed!

Is there anyway to assign a weapon to a sidearm type role rather than having to cycle through all your equipped weapons when you use quick switch. Find myself leaving weapon slots blank rather than take options into combat with me to avoid unnecessary cycling or using the weapon wheel. The sword I was using is redundant since now I loaded myself up with Mantis Blades 😍 but having to switch through them if I want to change between 2 guns feels like a very simple thing that should have an easy way to resolve, no?

Can't relate, as I now exclusively fill my slots with throwing knives.

Yeah, I posted earlier about the moment I realised I was going to have to pay when the relevant side mission blew up in my face because I didn’t do some earlier actions a specific way. Thought I was all set for getting the keys as a gift… until it was clear I wasn’t, haha.

Finished this on Series S way back when it came out and now enjoying a 2nd play through on SX since all the fixes. I don't remember this Death Stranding Easter egg though. Very cool 🙃

Holy shit it looks so much better

Played with new pathtracing for a little while and it is genuinely the most impressive lighting I have ever seen in a videogame, ever. End of story. Completely transforms the game visually and adds a whole new layer of immersion. Runs smooth as butter too with DLSS3.

I mean it only costs 2k to play it that way, but jeeeeeeeeeeeeez

Try it with standard dlss and balanced…looks a little cleaner and still with a clear 60+ fps rate!

I've been playing for a couple of hours and it's wild. The pathtracing is at times subtle and at times gobsmacking. The real wow factor though is watching it run at 19fps at then sliding the DLSS/frame generation dial to the right and watching it jump to 120fps. Seriously, what? I get that the 4090 is unobtainable/unwanted for sane people, but I'm shocked at how playable it is for such a huge increase in visual quality. This is absolutely the future. It's the first time something has really felt "next gen" to me since seeing the jump to 3D or the jump to HD.

I do wonder if the issue we will have throughout this gen is that the 4090 will rarely be used to do this sort of thing as much. This is real next-generation shit we're seeing here, and it's not really something that many people are going to be able to experience themselves, so I do wonder how many devs will do the honourable thing of devoting time, money and resources into something so spectacular for a fairly limited return in the investment?

It does mean that the legs on the 4090 may well mean it'll be able to perform spectacularly well for years to come...

..were I not an idiot who buys these things like penny cola bottles when I was a lad :P .

Makes you realise just how shit the ports of RE4 and TLOU were on PC. When a 3060ti can run path tracing with DLSS on ultra perfromance and everything cranked full at 30fps at 3440x1440 in a open world game like cyberpunk.

Guess which games had AMD involved and which Nvidia.

There's definitely room for improvement in this, despite how incredible it looks.

I don't think the path tracing handles headlights quite as well as it currently could, and pedestrians still have the tendency to look like they are floating a bit in the shade (they need to cast slightly stronger shadows in the shade basically).

However it's an incredible achievement, and as they've stated they will keep patching it.

It's a proper glimpse into the future of games.

I guess the other major downside is when the lighting looks this good, it really makes the other assets stand out as 'videogamey', in a way they didn't with rasterisation.

That animation transition 21 seconds into the Digital Foundry video

GTA 4 was better at that!

Ever since the overdrive patch came out I've been playing this again and just going around doing side quests and killing cyberpsychos. I'm back to really enjoying my time with the game. So much so that I'm going to buy a 4070 just to make it run better (not that it runs that bad now I just want better framerates and a higher DLSS level for clarity).

That’s what I did. No regrets - it looks incredible and >60fps at 1440p.
