Euro 2012: The Thread

And yet here you are.

Talking about Poland, Russia, Greece and the Czech Republic. You're the one who bought England up for no reason to have the same petty swipe you always do. Honestly, does it not get a bit unsatisfying when the thread is full of England fans saying how shit we are?

If Englands group play as openly as Poland, Czech Republic and Russia have been playing and can ride the pressure that will be placed upon them by such creativity and catch them on the break (we're probably far too pedestrian for that!) then we could get out of the Group stages, otherwise I'm thinking France and (I have nothing to base this on other than liking the home teams progressing into the knockout stages) Ukraine will get to the next round.

Wow.

That Russia game just finished 4-1, you said it was more entertaining than the World Cup, and I recalled another, more entertaining 4-1 World Cup game than the one we just saw. You're paranoid.

Coverage between BBC and ITV.

BBC off to a great start with a typically classy intro to their first show. Big name, world class former players too.

ITV. Adrian Childs looms from the dark like a marshmallow faced serial killer and nearly makes me shit myself - "Are you ready?" he announces like he's reading an auto cue for the first time, as Roy Keane haunts the background images like a man who'd now happily eat a pizza before a world up quarter final if you gave him 40 pence to do so.

+1 what a tune indeed! It's such classic 80-90's stuff, reminiscent of Dempsey and Makepiece too!

And amazingly I still remembered all the words!

HOWEVER. You can't touch this bad boy for footie tournament music...

This story got past my radar somehow as was reported on Thursday but 10 of the 23 strong Ukraine squad have been injured / passed sick by dodgy salad and food poisoning. Reminds me of Spurs two years ago on the last day of the season. Ouch!

I disagree. Our defending isn't as bad as what has been on show so far and we have a keeper who could actually make a save.

I think we'll lose against France and everyone will shit their pants about it but then go on to win our next two. Our biggest problem in my opinion is the lack of midfield. We need to get more creative going forward and feed the strikers more. As it is, because the midfield aren't doing their job when it comes to attacking, our strikers are sitting too deep because they want the ball. They never seem to hold the defensive line giving them far more to do when they finally receive it.

With Parker more of a defensive midfielder Gerrard needs to stop trying to do everything and work on feeding the strikers or the wingers. Then we can only hope that Carroll can hit a barn door.

We're not going to win this but i THINK we can get out of the groups. We just have to stop fully focusing on defending and start working out what we plan to do in our opponents half.
