England progress: 3rd in group

Out-there prediction: Portugal out without scoring a goal. Spain out by the quarters.

Under two hours to go for betting. Just made my selection of relative long shots:

Holland to win 6/1 (Actually this is relatively safe and I think the only one of the favourites to offer decent odds)

Top Goalscorer - Antonio Di Natale 40/1

Was nearly swayed by Barry Glendenning empassioned pleas to bet on Bendtner at 100/1 but then I spotted Di Natale sitting at 40/1 and couldn't resist. Obviously he's never been too brilliant internationally, but rarely given the chance to. He's so damn sexy though, and if rumours of his retirement are true I think he'll have something to prove - there's been a few other ageing Italian greats notching up farewell goals just recently and I think the man whose had the third best strike rate in European club football for the last three out of four seasons (or something I forget) is a good punt at 40/1.

Best Player - Joe Hart 80/1

England aren't going to do well at this tournament. I don't even fancy them to get out of the group stages in all honesty. But if they do by some miracle make it to the final it will be a miracle in the shape of Joe Hart. Because the rest of the team are total dog nuggets (Cole excepted). I can envision it all, a few desperate saves, an inspiring display of leadership from the back and then in the semi-final shootout after making a dozen point blank saves and scoring a goal via a perfect goal kick off Andy Carrol's bonce while the bedraggled Geordie was staring into space thinking about that corn rows disaster... Hart steps up, after scorpion kicking Podolski's power drive and dispatches this

Pick that out. And I'm £400 richer. (England then go on to lose 1-0 to Ireland in the final).

Winner and Top Goalscorer - France and Franck Ribery 150/1

France are supposedly woeful defensively, which means they'll have to score a lot of goals to win the tournament. Ribery has looked sharp in the two friendlies I've seen and the French system seems to be lending itself well to him at the moment. I was tempted by Ireland and Shane Long at 1000/1 but this actually looks like it could happen. Ribery could use a big tournament and I think France are being under valued at the moment - all they need to challenge the Dutch, Germans and Spanish is a bit of team spirit (and some better communication at the back - Mexes, really Laurent?).

I've never bet online before, it was terrifyingly easy.

It was originally supposed to be going out in the first knockout until I decided that they wouldn't lose to Denmark. So I just edited it and made a sexual joke about Hodgson instead.

I'm an idiot. I misread it as quarters and thought it wasn't possible.

Whose the better bet for Fantasy, Klose or Gomez?

Theyre both the most expensive forwards, but doesn't Klose usually start ahead of him?

May just stick Ronaldo in that spot.

Yeah but prices fluctuate in Fantasy Football dot they, so there's a risk that if I take out Gomez and he nets a couple of goals then his price will go up.

I'm pretty happy with my team....I think.

Oh well - basically I think Spain will fuck up, also that roy hodgson is going to have a psycho-sexual breakdown.

It is always important to remember that Football is only partially about scoring goals and winning games. The most important thing is having lovely hair while you do it.
