It's this image of the Hot Toy action figure of Emperor Palpatine

(I'd link to the site I got it from, but damn them for a popup video over the cookie consent button)

Has anyone seen the 4K77 and 4K80 versions of Episodes IV and V? They are utterly phenomenal. The original movies completely untouched by crappy CGI, taken from original prints and upscaled to 4K.

You can get 4K77 with or without DNR, but 4K80 is only without at the moment. No Jedi yet, but it’s coming. Even Harmy has said that once he saw them he almost thought of giving up on his de-specialised project. Luckily he then decided to carry on.

Get them here.

So what? It’s a manipulated image for a poster, who gives a fuck. I loathed the film but that’s just a nothingburger of a talking point.

it’s a manipulated image of an action figure. Just another example of Disney’s lazy milking of the SW cashcow.

definitely not worthy of discussion.

yet here we are. :coffee:

That's great news. Needed that as my Black Series Snowspeeder didn't fucking ship today as expected and is now at an unknown date. Yeah, first world nerd problems but I've flipped on the figures of late and thought I'd be whooshing it around my living room today.*

Will search the file out asap.

*Take it out of the box and admire it before putting it on a shelf to sit, forever.

Lockdown has made me go into a Black Series frenzy. Going to have to buy some Detolf display cabinets now and hide it all, perfectly preserved, in the loft.

@womblingfreeI had them all in separate glass cabinets dotted about my flat but got sick of certain drunken visitors flicking them over, two separate people on two separate occasions, so decided to fill them instead with my other midlife crisis nostalgia kick of Tamiya RC cars. I've put them all on my long shelf in my bedroom for the time being, away from ridicule and flicking fingers. I do actually have that Land Speeder and Rey's speeder on my fireplace but here they are for a group shot. Any excuse to show them to someone who might appreciate them, no one I know in real life does.

How does one get a hold of these 4K editions?

If you go to the Trilogy forums and sign up there’s a bit about how to download them using Resilio.

I think I may have been wrong about 4K80 being done though, I think I mistook the 4K83 download for 4K80 in the first place. Shouldn’t be long though!

@amc I’ve started collecting the Bounty Hunters and Mandalorian series, and now pre-ordered just about all the ones in the new boxes including all the Rebels (despite not having a clue who any of them are). Rey’s speeder is an absolute bargain and is a great model. Apart from that getting all the Retro series, including the re-released games. This time I will not lose any bloody guns!

Trying to resist the Snow Speeder... But the force is strong in that one.

Got shafted on a Mandolrian when I bought it a few days before the show aired in the States. By the time the seller came to post it the first episode had hit and I think he realised he'd undersold it (£20) so didn't post and refunded me. Looks a cracking figure and hopefully it'll get a re-run and I'll get him for a decent price.

I've been secretly wanting to buy a few figures for years since coming home from working away in the mid 90s and seeing how much old loose 3.75" figures sold for whilst passing a local privately owned toy shop. "how much!" "I've got a ton of those up in my mum's loft".

Was devastated when I asked my mother about them "oh them, I gave them to your younger cousin when he was doing a boot sale, he was made up, made at least a tenner"

A good friend of mine who’s been a collector since the 70s/80s, just sold his collection for just north of £90k !

When I lived in the States in 97/98/99 he came to visit, just after they’d released the Power Of The Force toys and it was 18 months or so before Phantom Menace came out, so excitement was building again. We spent a week going round toy stores in Seattle and he bought two of everything he liked. When he got back to the UK he sold one of everything to a rare toy seller (They weren’t out in the UK yet) and made back his airfare and all the money he spent while he stayed with us.

Nostalgia can be a powerful drug, mix that with collector mentality and sense can fly out of the window. I've became single for the first time since my early 20s and both those mentalities are getting a hold of me now in a fairly big way. One single figure meant to appease my slight curiosity held over from my family guy years lead to "shit I need that ROTJ Luke with green lightsaber" which can now be facilitated by my age and income, and now not needing to worry about what my other half would say. She wouldn't have been very happy with that shelf above* Although I did manage to squeeze a few interesting things into that time, thanks to having kids.

Prices for some of these new 6" figures can put some of the old 3.75" toys to shame too. I've actually kept all the boxes in my divan drawer for if I ever sell, due to some people displaying them boxed etc, which is just something beyond my ken.

Star Wars and all the stuff around it is so influential I totally get the toys appeal for certain older people, I've loved it since seeing it with my dad at the local Odeon in 78 and I'm enjoying the buzz of looking at and then being able to purchase stuff similar to my days of visiting Toy & Hobby or poring over the Argos catalogue, but now not having to rely on older family members to complete the lust. Some people would hate the stuff cluttering up their home but I'm enjoying the freedom to have Arcade cabinets in the living room and 65" tellies hooked up to all kinds of machines in the bedroom, flashing LED's changing at voice command. It helps separate who I am today to the time when it was all minimalist and family oriented. Love it tbh.

I'd have sold those 100 or so loose figures with guns etc stored in Arm and Hammer tooth powder pots anyway. I didn't have this mentality back then, I would have much preferred the money.

*would you Mand.

Soooooo. I just came across a rumuor/leak from a youtube channel I've been following for a few months now for juicy star wars goss.

Screw you Kathleen - MINOR spoiler for Rebels Season 4

The TL:DW

It's been rumoured for some time that Favreau's camp (off the back of Mandalorian actually being good) are moving in to trying and fix Star Wars in the wake of Kathleen shitting the bed, and so there's a power struggle. This latest vid specifically addresses what the "rumoured" plan is, and it's definitely not verified yet.

They're going to hit the reset button...

Hidden below as there is a MINOR spoiler for rebels and I know some people can get funny about this.

Spoiler

They are going to address what was covered in rebels - The veil of the force.

Now, I haven't got that far in rebels yet, but I understand it's essentially a starwars version of the multiverse/timetravel. Which the non Kathleen Kennedy camp what to use to effectively relegate the new movies to an alternate timeline and stick them into Legends. No more bullshit moody Luke, no more Mary Sue Ray, no more Palpatine cloning the world etc etc.

Obviously Kennedy is doing everything in her power to stop this, as it must be a massive slap in the face, but I'm totally in favour of it!

What's the general consensus here?
