Reading you idiots. All the nonsense about them being prepared to go down and thinking long-term is, well, nonsense then.

Oh well, good news for QPR as I make Reading doomed now.

Don't think it changes much for QPR, they need to 17th not 18th or 19th (if thats makes sense)

Reading are doomed anyway, they just don't have the quality needed to stay up and they didn't spend enough money either.

Brian McDermott will go down as the second best manager Reading have ever had, in the 4 years he has been there he has saved them from going down after the mess Brendan Rodgers made of the job, reached two FA cup quarter finals, beating Liverpool at Anfield in the process and of course won the Championship a season after losing in the play off final. He always came across as a really nice man as well and its sad to see him go as he had been there for a long time and had risen from scout all the way up to the top.

Because it worked out so well for Newcastle and Wolves when they sacked their managers at this stage!

I read an article last season I think about the chances of survival for clubs who sack a manager after the January transfer window and if I remember it correctly, it was slightly better than 50% who survived the drop (the conclusion being that sacking a manager that late wasn't necessarily a doomed venture). That said, with 9 games to go you'd have to think it's probably too late now as they just don't have the quality in the squad to survive.

I'd say that any team up to 15th (Sunderland, on 30 points) could be dragged into a real scrap now; I think those on 33 points and above will probably be safe. On previous form you'd say Wigan might now go on a run, but they just can't do that every year and this could be the time they finally succumb; Villa have got both QPR and Wigan, so their destiny is probably in their own hands (but they also have Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U); Sunderland and Southampton both have tricky run-ins, but again games against teams around them and as for Reading and QPR, every game for them is a struggle.

I think it's going to be tight and possibly 2 of the 3 places may go down to the final couple of weeks.
