I'm really looking forward to the new season with the managerial changes afoot. It'll be quite interesting to see if Arsenal can take advantage of their stability.

It's got to be now or never for Arsenal. If AW decides to uncharacteristically splash the cash then it could get interesting.

Not sure if it's because there hasn't been any PL football lately but even the fixtures coming out in a couple of weeks seems really really exciting.

Aslo, like you say the managers should be fun. Di Canio, Mourinho & Holloway should be good. Add in new guy Pellegrini, old guy Wenger, Moyes at Utd, new manager/Martinez at Everton & even Hughes at Stoke then the managers should be quite entertaining.

That gap between Bayern and Dortmund is huge! The goal difference is mental as well.

Didn't realise the bundesliga was walked that easily.

With Dortmunds best players joining them, just what that league needs! the gap is like Man Utd to Everton with less games played aswell

Guardiola hasn't really chosen much of a challenge in that move has he? Like Fenton said I had no idea it was THAT uncompetitive and +41 GD over the second place team in Dortmund is just rediculous.

I hope a Premier League team nicks Cavani for next season.

I often find the under 21's really dull to watch and looking at tonight's team, can you really imagine many of these players playing a big part in the future of English football.

Personally, no. But then again who knows how shit the future England teams may be? Chalobah and Zaha are both nailed on to become England regulars in the future, Caulker and Butland aren't bad too but to be honest I'm struggling with the rest.

There are quite a few players who have the ability to become great internationals the problem is the nature of the club game in this country doesn't provide the platform for them to develop. Its a high pressure environment with instant demands for success. No manager is willing to take the risk on youth when the price of doing so could be the axe. Look at Chelsea's Josh McEachron he was supposed to be the next big thing but his career hasn't taken off as no manager is going take the risk on his unproven talents when Abramovich is always sharpening his axe. Mourinho has come in and is talking a good game about bringing young players through but i'll believe it when I see it.

There are plenty of good young English players, at Liverpool we have Jordon Ibe, Sterling, Wisdom, Kelly, Shelvey and Henderson (and hopefully the club can bring Tom Ince back). All have the ability to become good international players. It just depends if whether they get the opportunity to develop. Last season was encouraging and I hope the plan is to continue this route rather than bringing in mercenaries in the chase for instant success who will just block their progress.

If the FA had any minerals they would follow Germany's example and force each club to invest in their academies and force each club to include a quota of academy graduates within the first team.

England can win the group again because of that result. Well, until we draw 0-0 at home to Moldova that is.

We were still able to win the group without it - winning all of our remaining games would have ensured that. We have Montenegro at home still to come.

It's not entirely his fault though is it? We just aren't producing and creating the right environment for decent, technically proficient, young footballers. :( I mean getting beaten (completely outclassed in fact) by Norway.. a country with 4 million people..

Nope, it's not entirely his fault. Which is not to say he's the sort of person who should be in charge of the national development of the younger players. Changing him solves nothing, but when (or if, knowing England) the underlying foundations have been set down, keeping him would probably be a mistake.

Though as to who you'd put in his place... coaching in the UK needs as much development as the actual playing.

We just don't have any decent confident ball carriers anymore. It's crazy how this has come about since we always used to have at least one highly technical/creative squad player who could actually take a player(s) on and beat them. Who's been the last player we've had that could do that? Gazza? Who's our best young prospect now, Wilshere I'd say and he's just a good driving midfielder for me.
