Does anyone know if I can watch the confederations cup matches on demand - not live? I'd prefer to watch tonight's match a bit later :)

I think it was pretty apparent what he meant though.

Only to conveniently fit within the current bias against anything Chelsea related. The original post and subsequent reply was about Jores Okore so unless he's suddenly come through the Chelsea ranks apparently his point is totally moot.

Well done to Chelsea for paying £££'s for a young squad. Those players were already established, Chelsea didn't nurture them into the players they are they just came in and threw money at them.

As much as I dislike Chelsea how is this different from 99% of teams?

BBC iPlayer?

Yeah; although can they show it on demand? I can watch it live on iplayer of course, it's hard to know if I can watch it back. Prem stuff no; footie league stuff yes. What are the rules/rights here?

Nah, Man City too, since both became taken over by billionaires they've only dealt with instant success and never take the risk of developing their own young players or an unknown quantity from outside. They've been a graveyard for young talent; Adam Johnson, Parker, Bridge Sturridge, MacEachran, Sidwell, Wright Phillips, Garcia, Sinclair, of those who i can think of the top of my head whose careers either stalled or went backwards while at those clubs.

The only reason a young player who is yet to establish himself would go to one of those clubs is because of the coin

I hope so. I don't know anything about the lad other than he turned Chelsea down in order to sign for us.

Speaking as somebody who is sick of seeing the very richest clubs hoover up every bit of talent on the off chance that they make it big I'm glad to see somebody who would rather, you know, actually play football. The fact that my club are the beneficiaries is a huge bonus.

I may be a Chelsea fan but I'm totally with you on that. Hope he owns it there.

Yeah like Oscar, Hazard and Azpilicueta right?

And next season De Bruyne, Lukaku and Schurrle will all be there too and with the exception of Villa, Chelsea will have the second youngest squad in the league.

All of whom were famous beforehand.

How about Mancienne, Hutchinson, Bruma, Van Aarnholt, MacEchran, Walker, Blackman, Kakuta? (Although since we appear to be down to 1 goalie we may well see Walker and Blackman next year)

You can't deny Chelsea have a terrible record with bringing young people who didn't join as first teamers to the first team.

I was like '17 years? Fuck off' but then you watch it and it's totally like going back to a more innocent time (dentist's chair and all).

LOL at the commentators saying Adams played the ball for the penalty too, he's nowhere near it.

Apart from the bit where he kicks the ball horizontally across the pitch away from the goal.

Fuck me, football has changed. Quote from the BBC:

"Gareth Bale could stand to make up to £3m a year if he successfully manages to trademark his 'Eleven of Hearts' goal celebration logo, according to a leading sports marketing expert.

Bale has filed an application to the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to trademark a logo which copies the goal celebration gesture he makes every time he finds the net, with a number 11 - his shirt number - inside the heart."

If this allows him to stay at Spurs with his pitiful wage of just 100k a week compared to the 200k he would get at Real Madrid, then he can trademark his cock and balls if he wants. :)

The number 11 shirt at Real Madrid is currently vacant :coffee:
