Quick question, do you need to print out ghe ticket confirmation email to pick up your tickets? Our printer is broken and which is why we didn't go for printing them at home, so it seems ridiculous that we have to print it out to pick them up!

Can you display your purchase on a phone or something?

Basketball tickets are available for today and the weekend.

This refresh game is addictive!

EDIT: had volleyball, beach volleyball, Taekwondo, athletics, closing ceremony, diving and basketball flash up as available throughout the day. Only got past the shopping list screen with basketball, but encouraging to see there is still hope of seeing some action.

Answers to questions:

If you print at home, you don't need to pick anything up, you can, however, collect a travel card (and a spectator guide) from the box office. I've done this with mine, as there was no queue at the box office anyway, and it saved using my Oyster on the way back. I mainly got the print at home so I could get a games rate train ticket, but then they didn't check anyway.

You can collect tickets for all events at most box offices, but not all. There was a list on the website of the box offices, with details of opening times and what you could collect. From memory it was just the place where the archery was where you could only pick up archery tickets, but I could be mistaken.

You don't need to print the confirmation email, just read them your number (I did this for my ticket where the print at home option wasn't there).

I'm afraid that as far as I'm concerned, unless you get to the checkout screen, the tickets may as well not be available. The shopping list screen is comparatively easy to get to!

If they come up, then I believe they have been made available at some point, but may well have been sold before the cached results for your search have been updated.

There are probably a lot of people out there playing the same refresh game that we are, and getting smart to the same tactics to get the tickets.

Still, I've managed to buy three tickets, and have got to the checkout stage for 7 or so others, but have not completed for one reason or another (being too slow, realising I'd get no sleep, browser crashing, realising my wife might kill me, etc...)

I got lucky a couple of days ago on those athletic tickets (which was awesome btw!), but don't know how you're getting through to the two minute countdown so much

I've stopped sleeping and working, and just kept searching.

Pickings do seem to have got thinner, but stuff is still going up from time to time. I expect demand is increasing, though, as the number of events, and so number of tickets, reduces.

By refreshing, do you mean literally refreshing the event page (where you select number of tickets), or mean that you keep on doing searches?

Mainly refreshing, but also changed some of the parameters every so often. Got the Saturday and thought that would be it but then the better half did a few searches for Friday tickets and got incredibly lucky again.

Won't quite believe it until I get to my seat though!

It is awesome - would love to go again, but mostly just looking for my friend and her son now. He is 10 yrs old and really excited by it all - they've been trying for ages and had no luck at all so really want to help them out if I can.

Spoke to a friend who was also looking and he said there was an influx around 5:30-6pm. The @2012ticketalert twitter feed saw an upswing around that time and I got mine not long after that.

Did you have to present the card you bought the ticket with, or just tell them your confirmation number?

From memory, I just had to read out the number, and show them some photo ID. I think Soong said he was asked for the card used for the purchase. I had forgotten about the photo ID, but luckily I carry my provisional driving licence in my wallet (even though I've not had lessons for about 10 years), and it seemingly still looked enough like me to be valid.

Cool, thanks. Problem I have is the account we used to book is my wife's (we were both searching and she got lucky first), so the ticket for Saturday has her name on it but was paid for with my card (the only VISA card we have). She can't make it to London, so I will take IDs for both of us, email confirmation and the VISA card, then just hope I have no problems.

I wrongly assumed the card holder would be eligible to pick up tickets as well as the account holder but we only read the small print afterwards (without the pressure of the purchase clock!). Apparently a family member can take a ticket once it's printed out, so opted for the Friday ticket to be printed at home when that came available and now wishing I'd done the same for the first one. Just thought collection would be more secure as I wouldn't need to carry a ticket until I got to the Olympic Park.

Gah, excitement dampened until trip to box office tomorrow afternoon!

I'd try calling someone to see if you can change to a print at home ticket.... I went to pick up tickets earlier this week and asked if I could do the same thing (i.e. pick up tickets at the box office, bought from my wifes account, and taking along her id and card) - and they said no. Hopefully if you have no other options they will show a bit more flexibility, but if you can sort beforehand it may be better.
