So then, apparently Bellamy wants to go back to Cardiff and we've agreed to pay 25k a week for his remaining 80k contract if he does?

Am I totally oblivious to this type of thing over the years or have we become a club we PAY other teams to take our players off us? Surely at the worst, for somebody of his quality, it should be a free transfer- but not payment to him as well?! I'd rather keep him personally.

Even ignoring the financial madness, why on earth would we be prepared to let Bellamy go? He was arguably our best player last season.

thats what i don't understand, we've got hardly any strikers as it is yet the club want to let Carroll and Bellamy leave on loan and it doesn't even look like anyone is coming in to replace them :(

I'm scared if the numbers are true - if you are giving him 25k then that might mean we are paying him 55k a week!!!

Seems odd to let him go - surely he could still do a job for you? - Bellamy seems to have the ability to leave any club and go where-ever he wants, when he wants.

He gets to stay in Red though

You do just have to hope that something positive is going on behind closed-doors. I read something in one of the papers at the weekend quoting Rodgers as saying he hoped to have a couple of players sooner rather than later, and considering that our season has effectively started things need to happen now.

I won't lie though, I feel that as a squad we are in a much worse position than this time last year - not just because of the shortage of numbers due to players that we've let go (and the poor business decisions they represent) but the likelihood that more could go, either with our blessing or because we aren't an attractive enough proposition to retain them. Bellamy is pretty-much off, City made an informal earlier this evening for Agger, Carroll's days look numbered even if he does stay, Shelvey was offered as a loan to Swansea as a sweetener in an Allen deal...

And on the positive side of that equation we potentially have Allen coming in (which doesn't really excite me), we got Borini and...?

A Rochdale player got badly injured in a behind-closed-doors friendly the other day. I love how he explained it:

Gray himself tweeted: "Just like to reassure everyone that it was not Charlie Adam's or any other player that caused my injury, was just a freak accident."

Poor Charlie.

Suarez has signed a new contract. A skilled player but I did not enjoy the club name getting dragged through the mud last season. I kind of wished he would have been sold to a Spanish/Italian club for some money we could have reinvested.

We are lucky that he wants to stay, for on and off the field reasons, What player of his standard is going to join us? While Suarez is toxic here in England, apparantly in Spain his 'charge' is a bit of a joke, so Spain could of been a much easier life.

He is an amazingly skilled player I just did not enjoy the clubs name being dragged through the mud last season. Like Rodgers has told him he needs to rise above all the abuse & just concentrate on the pitch. I also hope if & when he does play against Evra he shakes his hand & focuses his anger into playing on the pitch.

When did the Sports folder happen?! I was wondering why no one was talking in the Liverpool thread!

I'm hugely annoyed that there's even a possibility that Agger could be up for sale, even at £22m who else are we going to get to fill in? The fact that a move for Sterlign could be on the cards too is another worry, I'd thought he'd be exactly the kind of person Rodgers would be interested in developing.

Looks like the Allen deal is just a matter of time. £15m on another central midfielder!!!!!! Someone phone Liverpool and remind them that they desperately need wingers/attackers and already have a zillion central midfielders already

We'll be playing 3 central midfielders this season - after Gerrard and Lucas we have a lot of young or limited players. Allen will be a step-up in quality. Yes, we need more players, and from what Rodgers said yesterday we're after a few more. It's just this one will probably be completed first.

£15m on another central midfielder!!!!!! doh.gif

I know this kind of dim thinking still prevails but can we give a knock on the head? The figure is arbitrary considering our pulling power (it's not as good as it once was), the wages the player will receive, how the transfer fee will be paid and how much money we actually have available to us. I'm not saying this is a perfect buy but it's not all doom and fucking gloom. It's like when people considered Aguero a bargain for Man City.

plus signing on fees and wages he's probably costing them at least twice as much as that

But he's ones of those players that if they keep for 5 years will be worth it.

Anyway, last night was a good win and was good Borini scored, hopefully that'll set him away

Bellamy's gone :(

I went to the game last night and I thought we were brilliant. Replace Shelvey with Allen, and then Downing with someone better, and that first team looks ace. Just need to build up the rest of the squad now - we had mainly defenders and (limited) central midfielders on the bench. Adam was shocking when he came on.
