You've got a very good player in Sahin, assuming it goes through, but the reason he's not going to Arsenal is because we withdrew from negotiations after demanding an option to buy, which Liverpool are seemingly happy to proceed without. Nothing to do with Mourinho and Rodgers being besties. £7m+ is a lot of money to fork out for another central midfielder that you have to give back at the end of the season, hence Arsenal's withdrawal.

He's going to score against Arsenal now, obviously.

AVB did not fancy him either for some reason, though personally I would have loved him at Spurs.

It will have been monetary. He's on £120k a week at Madrid, and apparently they want the loanee to pay two thirds of that. Do Spurs even have anyone on £80k? Maybe Bale and at a push VDV? I dunno. And that's on top of Madrid wanting a loan fee of around £5m for the season.

Liverpool Echo reckon the loan fee is a lot smaller than the rumoured £7m, more just short of £5m. And that Arsenal pulled out as they didn't wanna pay out that sort of cash without a buy option at end of the season. Which Mourinho didn't want. Most of what you read on twitter is rumours so who knows. We'll find out more once he's signed up I guess.

It's gonna be like £10m+ with wages though, for a player Madrid bought for less than that. He's a fine footballer but Real must be laughing at the deal from their point of view.

Can't believe how different we are compared to last week. Hope we can push on in the second half rather than throw up the barricades.

Also, Joe Allen's looked really decent today as well.

We don't look that different to the first half last week, just a bit sharper and quicker. The only negative of that first half was Lucas, hope he won't be too badly injured.
