I can not get into Remember Me at all. And I am fairly certain why that is. The game frequently interrupts my gameplay and - shudder - experience. Just now, and this has happened a over a dozen times before, an NPC "calls" me and for some daft reason the protagonist can not run and talk at the same time. It really irritates me. Also, stop "calling" me to state the most obvious nonsense.

Open door to building that houses an item I need.

*getting called*

*slows down to a crawl*

"Good, you are in the building where the item is. Find the item"

I know! The screen text just told me that. And I know what my sodding mission is, you keep telling me! Also, it says so in the Journal!

Didn't get on with Remember Me at all. Lovely presentation but when it turned into a beat em up I turned it off.

I actually think it makes a refreshing change. Most devs would have littered those fighting areas with convenient waist high blocks and had you taking cover and shooting everything.

Have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Sure its linear, but I'm still enjoying taking in all the detail as I wander along. I do think some things are a bit silly though, like the video screens showing hidden items, which are pretty much already there under your nose.

I've tried looking on Google but can't find an answer so maybe some one here might be able to help, will MGS Rising install on a 40gb PS3? The only way for me to find out would be to delete loads of stuff.

I think the answer is no. You need (at least) twice the amount of space the download takes because it doesn't delete the download file until the install is complete. MGS Rising is an 18GB download IIRC, so will require 36GB of free space to install.

From what I can find on Google, a completely empty 40GB PS3 has 31GB of usable space because of system files. So you will not have enough space even if you delete everything (assuming the numbers are correct).

Well I didn't get on with MGR either. I appreciate Platinum Games are a very respected studio yet it does nothing for me.

Two boss battles within the first ten minutes. Everything moves at breakneck speed and I just don't feel I'm dexterous enough for anything beyond button mashing.

I'd love to 'get' what it is people find interesting with these games but I find them extremely linear and old fashioned.

So all in all not the best PS+ month for me but that's what's great about it, there's something for everyone. Last month I loved Far Cry, month before that ACIII.

Horses for different folks etc.

I much prefer tight, linear games to sprawlers (largely for pacing reasons), with the odd exception like GTA:V. Platinum's games are incredibly focussed and offer different kinds of freedom, usually based around how you fight and developing your own style.

Me too. I prefer games that are mechanics driven, which is always the case with Platinum. They are games that are really technical, games you need to learn to play and master. They don't hold your hand, don't give you a million things to collect; they actually respect the player. It's something that becomes more rare each day in gaming.

it's a bit button-bashy. because you're usually to far away to see "when a blow is about to strike" in order to do the next input.

that and it feels laggy as hell.

S T S T S T

should be easy, right? Not in this game. It just about manages

S S S

most of the time. Maybe it's the controller? unless it's the order input?

that's the beauty of the combo system. You create them yourself. if it doesn't work, mix and match.

Yup, I can occasionally get a three hit combo but it's more by luck than judgement. It keeps telling me to time the next button press when the previous attack hits but the timings seem totally random to me, even though it claims all the hits take the same amount of time.

I'm really enjoying the world but I suspect I'm going to get stopped by a boss fight that I can't luck my way through.

Fuck me mgr has the worst last boss iv ever fought in a game.

The song will haunt your dreams.

It's not so bad once you've got it down but yeah, the first time when you're intimidated and tired can be a bit of a nightmare.

The bit where you need to cut the rocks you can just dodge to the side instead, save yourself some life.

Yep, SSS is about all I can manage too. Tried hitting the inputs as a strike hits but that doesn't seem to work at all.

Bleh.

I've only played on PC, and it was a while ago, but from what I remember timing was dead simple, so long as you hit the buttons in the right sequence. I honestly can't remember if it uses a queue system (i.e. hit all of the buttons in a row, ignoring the actual combo timing on screen) or a wait-and-see system (i.e. hit the next button in sequence once the previous attack has finished) - it's one or the other, though, certainly no tight timing required.

It's the latter and on the PS3 just doesn't seem to work at all. I think input lag might be an issue. It's pretty hard to tell tbh.

I can't really tell from the animations from timing, but you do have to input quite slowly and measured compared to other combo type fighters. It does get increasingly difficult where you need to have the right mix of sensons (sp?) ( cool/ regen etc ) due to the type of enemies it will throw up - the worst part is that after dodgeing you're supposed to be able to continue the combo but never really happens and when you get surrounded dodge prompts will frequently come up during any combo attempt.

Later the Elite enforcers are a really stupid addition, where you also get damaged when you hit them. The only method I know is to try and take out everything else then use either your bolts or Fury mode to defeat them, but it always means you end up on no health.

They're designed to be countered using the custom combos - using the right combination of damage-dealing and healing attacks allows you to take them out while regenerating all the damage you suffer in retaliation.

Hmm, I was kinda hoping it wouldn't descend into going back and too all the time into the menu to keep changing combo settings depending on what type of enemy appears. I think I'm about 60% complete at the moment, so hopefully it won't get further frustrating...

As suspected:

I guess it's coming next month?

Edit: Er, how do I embed a tweet using UBB code?
