Good Boardgames - to have for the flat.

I can get five occasionally so I think I will pick a copy up, cheers.

On the subject of card games, I've just ordered a copy of Skull and Roses on the basis of today's Eurogamer review. Anyone here play it?

Flash Point arrived yesterday too, but I probably won't get to play it until the weekend. We're Pandemic and Forbidden Island fans, so I'm really looking forward to breaking this one out.

I was thinking of picking something up, likely Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride, but I see in here the recommendations for TtR are specifically for the Europe map version. Why that in particular? I've only played a bit of the online version, and that's been the US one (although I think I've got the Europe DLC too) so I don't really know the difference.

I think people seem to agree that the European map is better balanced and throws in a few other interesting mechanics such as tunnels, ferry routes and Train Stations. Having said that, the USA map is still fantastic and I think you'd be pleased if you got either version. It's just a really good piece of game design.

Settlers of Catan and K2 are also good (up there with Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride) but you need at least 3 players (necessary for Catan, and better for K2)

My copy of Skull and Roses arrived today and it's everything the Eurogamer review said, fast, simple, wickedly entertaining stuff that had my wife and kids laughing and laying the verbal smackdown on each other. Highly recommended as a warm-up game if there are four or five of you.
