Just followed the above instructions to migrate my account from Xbox to PC and get a free PC version of the game and all worked well.

 

Is anyone aware of a way of getting the PC version within Steam without having to download the Fontier installer? It's nice to have my stuff moved across and it would be nice to have the game in Steam but I might not play it again any time soon and so I'd rather avoid downloading and installing the Frontier installer if I can at all help it. I like to keep things nice and streamlined (Steamlined if you will?).

Thank you for this, I am laughing like a drain. It was particularly enhanced when I imagined her emerging from the shower cubicle on your actual ship as you were happily piloting away on a regular space errand oblivious to the obvious danger you were both suddenly in!

A friend just reminded me about the console migration. Frontier had said it would be available “indefinitely” and would only be pulled with significant advance notice so as I was busy in September I put it off. Well I looked in to it now, turns out they yanked it when Update 14 came out about 2 months later, with only a week’s notice. I guess something in that update broke the transfer system.

 

Apparently a very limited transfer service will come this quarter but I’m not holding my breath. They really don’t want me getting back in to this huh.
